Executives of the Interim Student Representative Council (ISRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson on 6th August at the Council Chamber. The visit was to formally introduce the newly appointed executives to the Vice-Chancellor.

The Members of the Interim Student Representative Council are; Ether Abu Ayim, Chairperson, Martin Darko Dankwa, Vice-Chairperson, Adriana Cornie, General Secretary/Women’s Commissioner, Phoebe Etornam, Financial secretary and Lord Amonoo-Parker as Member.

Professor Dickson, in her remarks, congratulated the ISRC executives on their appointment. She urged them to be diligent leaders, serve and learn from their experiences. She further encouraged them not to break the communication cycle with management of the University as communication is important in channelling the needs of students. She pledged management’s support to them in the execution of their duties during their tenure of office.

The Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to thank KNUST students for their cooperation during these odd times and encouraged them to observe all safety protocols outlined by the KNUST Covid-19 Management Committee and other recognised bodies.

Master Ether Abu Ayim thanked the Vice-Chancellor for her warm reception and assured management that his team would work assiduously to serve students and management. He advised his team members to work together for the good of the University Community.

According to the Dean of Students, Professor Wilson Agyei Agyare, there was a need to swear-in an interim executive body to manage the affairs of the SRC since the general elections for the SRC Administration was interrupted by the crippling effect of the novel coronavirus. The executives, he explained, were appointed through an act established by the SRC which made provision for the institution of an interim Council until elected leaders of the SRC officially take over. The five-member interim executive body includes representatives of elected executives from the Colleges, halls, Non- residential, Institute of Distance Learning and clerk of the KNUST SRC Parliament.
