Voter’s Identification Number (VIN).
The number assigned to the precinct in every city or municipality shall be permanent but the voter may transfer his precinct number.
Before someone can vote you must be a registered voter. It only takes 4 steps to register as a voter
STEP 1
For you to register as a voter, you must present a valid National ID Card to the registration center in your electoral area.
Acceptable forms of identification are:
- National Identity Card (“Ghana Card”)
- Passport
In the absence of any of the valid IDs above, an applicant must submit one
completed Identification Guarantee Form endorsed by two registered voters
STEP 2
The Applicant will be required to provide his or her name, age, sex, residential address and other necessary information for the completion of the voter registration form (Form 1A) by the Registration Officer
STEP 3
Submit the completed registration form to the Data Entry Clerk to have your biometrics and photographs captured.
STEP 4
After going through the above steps, the registration official will issue to you a laminated voters ID Card and a receipt acknowledging your registration.

With the introduction of Biometric voter register, we offer both online and offline registration for your convenience.
The Commission publishes in the Gazette an invite to every person who is entitled to be registered as a voter to apply, during a period specified in the notice, to the registration officer assigned to the divisional register wherein the candidate normally resides.

Polling stations and poll workers who run them are the front lines of the Ghanaian elections. According to our data, during the 2016 elections, the Electoral Commission and local election officials operated 28,921 polling stations across the country.
