How to Invest in Ghana Stock exchange in Ghana

I opened a trading account through a Ghanaian stockbroker about five years ago. While the broker has executed all trades that I’ve asked them to complete, I have reservations about referring them to my clients here.

Their service has been adequate, but far from outstanding.

So I compiled a list of stockbrokers who trade on the Ghana Stock Exchange and emailed each of them.

I asked them if they catered to foreign investors and, if so, how much they required in order to open an account.

Of the 20 brokers that I contacted, I found the following four brokers to be especially helpful and responsive.

How can I invest in the Ghana stock exchange?

A prospective investor on the Ghana Stock Exchange must open securities account with a brokerage house prior to trading in securities. The process of opening an account is very simple and starts by making contact with a broker of your choice.

So how does one start investing in the GSE?

You can go to any licensed brokerage (full list here) and open a trading account.

You would also be required to open an account with the Central Securities Depository (CSD).

You can then make the request for your broker to buy whatever stocks you wish to purchase.
