Programme Description

The Home Economics Programme is designed to provide training for students to enable them teach the following subjects; Catering and Sewing, Foods and Nutrition, Management in Living and Family Life Education.

Target Group

The programme is intended for:

SHS Certificate Holders

Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ and HND Holders

Job Prospects

Job prospects in Home Economics are in the following areas:

Teaching

The Catering and Hospitality Industry

Fashion, Designing and Interior Decoration Businesses

Entry Requirements

i.   At least Grade ‘C6’ or better in Core Science/Integrated Science.

ii.  Any two (2) of the following elective subjects:

Management in Living, Clothing and Textiles, Textiles, Foods and Nutrition, General Knowledge in Art, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics.
