The vision of MCU is “to become a world-class teaching and research university, educating for life and addressing the challenges facing contemporary society”. Its mission is “to train and prepare a new generation of graduates in body, mind and spirit, for the transformation of society”. In achieving our vision and mission therefore, we intend to become an institution of excellence by providing cutting edge research, relevant teaching and learning and proactive extension activities. Consequently, MCU will become an institution of first choice for both staff and students.
As a university college, MCU is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. MCU is the first private tertiary institution in Ghana offering Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Post-First Degree (LLB) and Master of Laws (LLM) programmes. Programmes in Business, Social Sciences and Medicine are also being developed to meet the pressing demands of tertiary education in Ghana.
MCU has two campuses: one at Ayebuso, Larteh-Akwapim in the Akuapem North District of the Eastern Region, which is the main campus; the other one is the Accra Campus, which is located in the Readwide Building at Kanda.
MCU is unique because it is an institution for both the young and old and takes seriously issues of diversity and transformation. The structure of its programmes takes account of this diversity of its student body. Accordingly, it organizes regular morning, evening and weekend programmes for both workers and young students who have met the admission requirements, namely, passed either the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) “Advanced Level” Examination. We also admit mature candidates who must be 25 years of age and above at the time of submitting the application with at least five passes at the GCE “Ordinary” Examination. As a way of internationalizing the institution, we admit international students who have met the admission requirements.
