Critical Care Nurses work mainly in hospital emergency rooms or intensive care units (ICUs) or in specialty departments such as cardiac care or pediatrics.

How many hours do critical care nurses work in Ghana?

The majority of units revolve around 12-hour work shifts, either 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM. 

Many units offer a 36-hour workweek consisting of three 12-hour shifts while others maintain coverage with two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts for a 40-hour workweek.

What qualifies for critical care in Ghana?

The patient must have a critical illness or injury that acutely impairs one or more vital organ systems such that there is a high probability of imminent or life-threatening deterioration in the patient’s condition.
