Classification of Contractors license Applications in Ghana

The classification Register is solely for the use of Government Ministries, Departments, Agencies and Corporations, National, Regional, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Tender Boards and other Institutions which require the services of Building and Civil Contractors for the execution of projects.

The Classification exercise aims at the proper grading of contractors into categories and financial classes. 

The inclusion of a contractor’s name in the Register is not compulsory, but it should be noted that only contractors who are thus classified would be legible to undertake Building and Civil contracts awarded by the Government of Ghana.

A contractor who wishes to apply for the Ministry’s classification under these guidelines should first satisfy him/herself that he/she can fulfil the basic minimum requirements in this document.

Classification into the appropriate Categories and Classes will be required before a contractor can bid for Government of Ghana Projects.

How To Apply For Classification In the Register

Prospective contractors wishing to be classified must purchase application forms from the Classification unit Room 39, Ministry of Works and Housing, P. O. Box M43, Ministries, Accra. 

Completed application forms must be submitted to the officials at the Contractors’ Classification Secretariat, Room 39 on the 1st Floor of the Ministry’s Block, who then vet and forward the application forms for consideration by the Contractors Classification Committee.
