Master of Philosophy in Irrigation Technology Colleges and Universities in Ghana

Irrigation is the artificial process of applying controlled amounts of water to land to assist in production of crops. Irrigation helps to grow agricultural crops, maintain landscapes, and revegetate disturbed soils in dry areas and during periods of less than average rainfall.

What are 4 types of irrigation techniques?

Surface.

Sprinkler.

Drip/trickle.

Subsurface.

What are the 3 main types of irrigation?

Various irrigation methods have been developed over time to meet the irrigation needs of certain crops in specific areas.

The three main methods of irrigation are surface, sprinkler, and drip/micro.

What is the main function of irrigation?

Irrigation helps to grow agricultural crops, maintain landscapes, and revegetate distributed soils in dry areas and during periods of less than average rainfall.

Irrigation also has other uses in crop production, including frost protection, suppressing weed growth in grain fields, and preventing soil consolidation.

What is the best method of irrigation?

Drip Irrigation

This system is good for a small yard or for watering individual plants.

Drip irrigation is highly effective at supplying one to four gallons of water per hour directly to the soil.

The advantage of drip irrigation over sprinklers is that there is little water loss due to evaporation or runoff.
