ADVERTISEMENT OF DISTANCE GRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR
The School of Graduate Studies and the College of Distance Education UCC, invite applications from qualified persons for admission into graduate programmes by distance learning mode in Education and Business programmes for the 2016/2017 academic year.
A. ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The following graduate programmes are being offered by distance learning:
1) Education: M.Ed
Areas of specialisation:
a. Administration in Higher Education
b. Educational Psychology
c. Guidance and Counselling
d. Measurement and Evaluation
e. Special Education
2) MA (Master of Art)
a.Guidance and Counseling
b.Administration in Higher Education
3) Business: MBA (Master of Business Administration)
Areas of specialisation:
a. Accounting
b. Finance
c. Human Resource Management
d. Marketing
B. DURATION OF ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
1.Education – M.Ed (By Course Work)
The M.Ed is for a duration of three (3) semesters.
A candidate for any of the M.Ed programmes who attains a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or higher at the end of the course work may progress to do MPhil after successfully going through an interview. The M.Phil will require two additional Semesters for the Thesis (i.e. 3 semesters of Course Work and 2 Semesters for research).
2. MA (By Course Work)
The MA is for a duration of three (3) semesters.
3. Business –MBA (Dissertation)
The MBA with a dissertation programme is for a duration of four (4) semesters (Three semesters of course work and one semester for dissertation)
A candidate in any of the MBA programmes who attains a CGPA of 3.0 or higher at the end of the course work may progress to do MCom (Master of Commerce) after successfully going through an interview. An M.Com candidate will require additional 2 semesters for the thesis (i.e. Five semesters in all; 3 semester of course work and 2 semester thesis).

Bank Drafts can be obtained from any GCB Branch nationwide, issued in the name of College of Distance Education, University of Cape Coast. All Bank Drafts must be submitted to the Officers at the sales point for the scratch card.
D. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
i. Applicants must have a first degree not below Second Class (Lower Division) in the intended from a recognised university or equivalent institution.
ii. In the case of the MBA programmes, holders of final professional examinations certificate and membership of relevant professional bodies such as Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Banking; Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD); Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG); Chartered Institute of Marketing; Chartered Institutes of Taxation, Ghana (CITG); Chartered Institutes of Marketing; the Chartered Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators; Chartered Insurance Institute; Chartered Institute of Human resources and development (CIHRD) can apply
E. LEARNING CENTRES
The graduate programmes will be mounted in four of our regional learning centres, namely:
a) Accra (Accra Learning Centre, Adjiringano)
b) Kumasi (Ghana Institute of Languages- MBA and Kumasi Technical Institute-M.ED and MA )
c) Cape Coast (College of Distance Education Building, UCC).
d) Tamale (Institute of Languages, Education Ridge)

G. SPECIAL ORIENTATION
All successful applicants will be invited to a special orientation to be held at their study centres in the four regions. Applicants will be briefed on the mode of delivery and other requirements they will need for completion of the programme within the stipulated period.
H. CLOSING DATE
Closing date for sale of Scratch Cards (i.e. application forms) is 20th May, 2016 and submission of application forms to the Deputy Registrar, School of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Cape Coast is 27th May, 2016.
