Economics is the social science that studies how people interact with things of value; in particular, the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. 

About Programme: 

The Ph.D. Economics programme at the University of Cape Coast is designed for students who wish to undertake advanced study and conducting original research in Economics.

It is a three-year programme.

During the first two semesters, students are required to take a Faculty compulsory course (Philosophical foundations of Social Sciences), Research Methods, and some other courses that may be recommended by the supervisor of the student in consultation with the Departmental Board. Students after successfully passing the above-stated courses then proceed to write their thesis which must be based on original research and represent a major contribution to the body of Economic knowledge.

To be admitted to this programme, candidates must possess MPhil. in Economics
