Who is a miller and what do they do? The job of a miller is to process grain to produce flour and other products.

What are the activities of the miller job? Operates and controls machines and equipment in mills and also controls production remotely – packs and dispatches flour and other finished products – co-operates with maintenance and repairs when production equipment is out of use – takes samples for laboratory analyses of products at different stages in the process, checks and samples the quality of products.

Where is it done and under what conditions? Mostly in mills where you can expect a lot of noise and dust.

What tools/equipment do they use? Mainly machines and production lines for the milling industry, grain silos, grain cleaners. You also need skilful hands and sound legs.

What do you need to succeed? You need to have completed an apprenticeship, be physically fit and good with your hands.
