Staff requirements to register a Hospital in Ghana

To register a hospital in Ghana, the facility needs to have a minimum of the following:

2 medical officers with at least 5 years post-qualification experience, and in good standing with the Medical and Dental Council (MDC).

A combination of 8 registered nurses, nurse practitioners or midwives with at least 5 years post-qualification experience, and valid NMC pin.

2 part-time medical specialists

1 Pharmacist with 5 years experience, and good standing with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.

4 Nurse Assistants in good standing with NMC

1 Radiographer with 5 years experience

1 Physiotherapist

1 Laboratory Scientist with 5 years experience

1 Anesthetist

NB: Requirements are different for registering a clinic in Ghana (generally lower); or other facilities like maternity home or Pharmacy in Ghana.

How do I register with HeFRA?

Purchase an application form from HeFRA.

Submit the application form with all required documents.

If all documents are completed are satisfied.

Facility is ready for inspection.

Else Facility will have satisfy all outstanding issues before inspection.

License is issued.
