What Is Sleek Makeup?
Here at Sleek MakeUP, we believe that however you live your life everyone has the right to be seen, heard and felt exactly how they choose to be. Encompassing this spirit, we aim to support and celebrate individuals who work it their own way and actively challenge stereotypes.
In 1985, in the heart of East London, Sleek MakeUP was born. Our founder recognised that women of colour were under represented in the make-up industry and worked hard to create a highly pigmented range of products for all skin tones. Inclusivity and diversity has always been at the core of our brand and we continue to champion this today.
From our iconic i-Divine Eyeshadow palettes, to our blinding Highlighting Palettes, and other cult classics such as Matte Me Liquid Lipsticks and Cream Contour Kits; we became a brand known for providing on-trend, high quality products.
You may have experienced it before, too. After spending the week excitedly making plans with your friends, you all travel into your local high street for a Saturday at the shops. You stroll past the expensive department stores your teenage budget can’t stretch to and, instead, target your local Boots or Superdrug to stock up on some make-up and that’s when it happens.
Some friends, who have fairer skin than you, pick up products and testers without a second thought while the rest of you quickly realise your options are limited because said products aren’t made for your skin tones.
Can’t tell you how many times you’ve to pick up a “nude” lipstick that makes it look like I’ve smothered my lips with concealer because it wasn’t dark enough. Or, how many pink blushers I bought that barely showed up when I applied them to my skin or didn’t look good against my yellow undertones. But still, in a bid to avoid… well, embarrassment, I guess, I spent my pocket money on products I couldn’t really use.
While make-up brands opened up its shade ranges (albeit, very slowly), base products were still difficult to find without spending a lot of money in Selfridges. But then, when I approached my mid-20s, I came across Sleek Makeup and that all changed.
Is Sleek Makeup A Good Brand?
The beauty about Sleek is they do quite a few shimmer/mineral shades however even on mature skin they don’t look like a disco ball. The shimmer is so fine it actually looks like silk on the skin. The shades are lovely and mixed with matte colors the options are endless. Sleek is a great brand.
How Good Is Sleek Makeup Foundation?
Coverage is buildable; I didn’t use any corrector and concealer here yet, yet the foundation has evened out my skin and concealed minor discolorations nicely. Since consistency is light cream, it may not be as effective in concealing bumps so use a heavier cream concealer on them before or after the foundation.
