Bolt is an Estonian mobility company that offers vehicle for hire, micromobility, car-sharing, and food delivery services headquartered in Tallinn and operating in over 400 cities in over 45 countries in Europe, Africa, Western Asia and Latin America.
History
Bolt (then Taxify) was founded by Markus Villig (then only a 19 year-old, a high-school student) in 2013, with a vision to aggregate all Tallinn and Riga taxis into one platform. He developed the first version of the mobile app with €5,000 borrowed from his parents. The service was launched in August 2013 and in 2014 it went on to foreign shores.

How Does Bolt Work?
When Bold riders request for a ride, they fill in their destination in the Bolt app, view fare estimate, and a driver is automatically matched to them. Simultaneously, Bolt drivers receive a ride request via your Bolt driver app, then pick up the client and drive to the rider’s destination.
