What is the importance of forest governance?

The main objective of good forest governance is to ensure forest sustainability, together with fair decision making and benefit distribution.

But ecological, economic and social sustainability cannot be achieved through good forest governance alone.

What are the objectives of social forestry?

Two objectives of social forestry are :

Management and protection of the forests as well as afforestation of barren lands, aimed at helping in environmental social, and rural development.
