The Bachelor of Science in Geology is a four-year that focuses on the study of the Earth. It tackles its origin, composition, characteristics, and processes. Geology majors also study the Earth’s natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions.

KNUST Entry requirements for Bachelor of Geological Science

An applicant for admission to a degree programme in the University of Ghana must have at least credits (A1 – C6 in WASSCE and A – D in SSSCE) in English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science (for Science related programmes) or Social Studies (for non-Science related programmes) and three elective subjects in Science for applicants applying to Science or Agriculture related disciplines or three elective subjects in General Arts/Business for applicants applying to non-Science related disciplines, with the total aggregate not exceeding 24.

In addition, Science applicants should have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D in SSSCE in Social Studies/Life Skills and non-Science applicants should also have at least a grade C6 in WASSCE/D IN SSSCE in Integrated Science/Core Science.

Entry requirements for Bachelor of Science in Earth Science

Core: Credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science & Social Studies

Electives: Credit passes in any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Geography and Elective Mathematics, with at least a C6 in Chemistry

UMaT Entry requirements for Bachelor of Geological Science

SSSCE Candidates

Candidates must have credit passes (A-D) in THREE CORE SUBJECTS in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and passes in THREE SCIENCE ELECTIVES in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

WASSCE CANDIDATES

Candidates must have passes (A1-C6) in THREE CORE SUBJECTS in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and passes in THREE SCIENCE ELECTIVES in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (GCE) ‘ADVANCE’ LEVECANDIDATE

Candidates must have passes in THREE (3) SUBJECTS (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also the applicant must have had credits passes (Grade 6) in five (5) GCE ORDINARY LEVEL subjects including English, Mathematics and an Arts subject for science students.

MATURE CANDIDATES

Candidates must have attained 25 years of age and must have passed in FIVE SUBJECTS at SHS LEVEL including, English Language and Mathematics or credits in FIVE SUBJECTS at GCE ORDINARY LEVEL including, English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidates must have relevant working experience and must pass an interview conducted by the Department.
