Please note: with effect from 04 August 2016 as per instruction received from Embassy of Spain, “Checklist” needs to be duly filled in by the Applicant/Travel Agent/Authorized representative and needs to submit along with the Visa Application. Please note it’s mandatory to provide the same and is applicable for all Ghana.

Please follow the below-mentioned points:

  • The checklist must be submitted on back to back format only (without back to back copies being stapled to each other).
  • Application form(Spanish version) must be filled by a Blue Ink or online filled printed form is applicable only.

Application Form: Application for Schengen Visa(Spanish version).

Original Application form(Spanish version) for Schengen Visa duly filled in and signed by the applicant in blue ball point ink. 1 recent photograph (35-45 mm) of the applicant with white background must be attached in the application form. The application form must be correctly filled, facilitating all the possible information requested in the form including postal address, email address and telephone number.

Please note that with effect from 01 April 2013, the Embassy of Spain requires a Sworn Declaration of consent by the parents or legal guardians of minors who are applying for a visa, for the purpose of the visa and travelling. This Sworn Declaration is mandatory and must be provided with the visa application form and other required documents at the time of submission.

The application can only be submitted personally at the BLS International Services centre. Please note that all applicants are supposed to take mandatory fingerprints hence must submit their applications in person.

Passport of the applicant with at least 3 blank pages, which should be valid for at least three months after the duration of intended stay. This document should have been issued in the last ten (10) years. Photocopy of the passport biodata page and all pages of the passport with visas only must be submitted.

Submission of all old passports is mandatory. In case if the applicant has lost their old passport then he/she can submit copy of the complaint lodged with the Police or for any other reason of not submitting it he/she can provide a covering letter mentioning the reason for the same

In case of minors (below 18 years), the application form must be signed by both parents. Photocopies of passports of both the parents, attested by notary public, must be attached. In case parents do not have passports then they need to provide a government ID proof having signatures.

A Birth Certificate. For children travelling with only one parent, the birth certificate of the child has to be legalised through the following process:

Firstly, obtain the stamp, signature and seal of the competent Public Notary who is legalizing the document at the rear of the document

The original document should also bear a brief statement, preferably stamped, by the Public Notary stating that the document is an original, OR that they certify the signature and office of the authorising signature on the original document. (For example: I, Public Notary, hereby certify that this document is an original Ghanaian document and bears the signature of an authorised competent authority).

Secondly, obtain a Letter of Attestation from the Judicial Service. This letter should certify that the stamp, signature and seal of the Public Notary are authentic (in place of the affidavit as was previously the case. Please note that affidavits are no longer accepted, except for Bachelor’s/Spinster’s Certificates).

Finally, obtain a letter of certification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Covering letter from the applicant, explaining in detail the purpose of the visit. All cover letters must include details of any other accompanying persons as well. This includes family members, friends or business associates travelling for the same purpose.

For visiting family or friends:

  • Invitation letter issued by “Policia Nacional de España”. (submit in original along with a photocopy )
  • Attested copy of the passport and the DNI or residence card of the person living in Spain.

For tourism purpose:

  • Hotel bookings for the entire duration of stay.
  • Travel itinerary for the entire duration of stay. .

Original Personal bank statements of the applicant for last 3 months for Embassy of Spain, Accra with the original stamp and signature of authorized signatory of the bank (Online Bank statements are not acceptable). This is a mandatory statement

Personal Income tax may be added as an additional document.

Salary slips for last three months.

Proof of travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros to cover any expense which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and /or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States. The duration of the insurance cover must include the entire period of stay and additionally fifteen days more after the proposed date of departure out of the Schengen territory.
Applicants are informed that travel medical insurance issued by only some Ghana insurance companies are will be accepted for visa procedures. However, visa applicants may seek to obtain insurance in any other country where claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen state.

Flight bookings(reservation and not ticket).

Any other document that the applicant may consider appropriate to support his/her application.

Authorization form signed in original by the applicant, in favour of BLS International Services

  • To receive any notification issued by the Embassy of Spain.
  • To collect the passport on behalf of the applicant.
  • In the case of minors applying for visas, the signatures of both parents on the application form is not enough. The embassy requires a statutory declaration made before a public notary by giving their consent (in case neither of them is accompanying the child) and in cases where the applicant is travelling with one of the parents the consent should come from the other parent.

For Family visa applications applicants are requested to submit proof of family relations with the principal applicant as an additional document with the visa application, for example

For Spouse – Marriage certificate

For Children – Birth certificate

BLS International will accept a photocopy of the document after verifying with the original at the time of submission.

With regards to the documents submitted with the visa application such as the Marriage certificate and Birth certificate of family visa applications, documents only in English language or translated to Spanish will be acceptable for all files.

Kindly note that if the documents are in any regional language, they must be translated to English or Spanish by any language institute with official stamp and signature of the translation institute/agency.

Documents in regional languages such as Marriage certificate and Birth certificate will not be acceptable.

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.

Clear share quality and with the face in focus.

Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).

Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]

Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre.

Applications accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day at the Embassy of Spain. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant can be further requested additional documentation in support of the same. Please note as per the instructions received from Embassy of Spain minimum processing time is 15 working days (It may delay and can get to 45 days in case it is necessary to make a more detailed exam of the application).

All applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.
