The National Union of Ghana NUG
The National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS)- KNUST is the official representative body of all students on national issues on campus. It is a progressive mass movement of Ghanaian students that is non-political, non-partisan and non-religious. It is a representative of the NUGS National secretariat of the NUGS National here in KNUST, serving as a liason between the Students Representative Council and the secretariat. Since its establishment, it has and continues to champi on the course, defending students in the collective interest of all.
As part of our frantic effort to bring the best out of our fellow students we have come up with the following programs which will run through the entire semester.This built around the 3R’s (Reflect,Rebrand and Restructure) approach that will make NUGS more vibrant ,effective and transparent in an attempt to uplift the image of secretariat and outline clearly what we stand for. It is our vision to help our fellow students develop their potential in order to affect and build a holistic student even outside the lecture room and also to empower capacity building through leadershi and entrepreneurial seminars by inviting adequately resourced personnel to share thier esperiences as well as motivate and inspire us.
It is our greatest desire to restructure the secretariat to meet the present needs of our student and to provide a quality stop point for enguires. We therefore lay down these programs to create and enabling environment for the good students of this institution:
- We will begin wtih a book fair which will be held on campus at Royal Parade Gound to bring recommended study materials closer to us at cheaper prices.
- We wil also embark on a mass registration of SSNIT Students’ Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) for freshmen and women to ensure that the loans are.
- The will be a seminar series dubbed “building the holistic graduate”.The seminar look at areas vital to the survival of today’s graduate in outside world.
- These are some of the projects we are undertaking.
