Housemanship means a period of training in an approved hospital or institution by a practitioner who has completed basic medical or dental training in a recognized institution or university.

 Housemanship is a very important part of medical and dental training, a time when the trainer acquires the most basic, but crucial, clinical skills to establish a foundation for building his / her professional medical/dental career.

Duties of a House Officer include but are not limited to all professional duties assigned to him or her by the Consultant/Specialist or the Resident/Medical Officer (MO) of the team.

They perform basic clinical roles such as prescribing medications, giving medical advice to patients, assisting in surgical operations, and other related services.
