B.Sc. Information Technology Education
Session: Full-Time
Programme Description
The programme aims at providing a thorough degree level
Teacher Education in Information and Communication
Technology (ICT). Students are trained in the use of
Information
Technology to enhance teaching and learning. They are also
equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to provide
IT solutions to practical problems in business and industry.

»» HND Computer Science and Information Technology
Certificate Holders
»» Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ and other qualified applicants.

Entry Requirements
Regular and Evening Programme
Apart from the minimum University of Education, Winneba’s
entry requirement, applicants must satisfy the following
special department requirement:

i. SSSCE Applicants must have three (3) credit passes in
core subjects namely; English, Mathematics and Science
and three (3) credit passes in elective subjects with a total
aggregate of 24 or better.
ii. WASSCE Applicants must have three (3) credit passes in
core subjects namely; English, Mathematics and Science
and three (3) credit passes in elective subjects with a total
aggregate of 36 or better.
iii. GCE Applicants must have grade ‘E’ or better in three
subjects of which at least one of the 3 should be grade D
or better. In addition the applicant must have 5 GCE ‘O’
level credit passes including English, Mathematics and
Science
iv. ABCE Applicants must have grade ‘E’ or better in three
subjects of which at least one of the 3 should be grade D
or better. In addition the applicant must have 5 GCE ‘O’
level credit passes including English, Mathematics and
Science.
v. HND and University Diploma holders of Information
Technology or Computer Science Certificates: Applicants
must have graduated with at least second class lower
division. In addition applicants must have 2 years post
HND qualification working experience. Such applicants
will normally be admitted to second year.
vi. Mature Students: Applicants must:
a. Be at least 25years old
b. Show proof of age with a birth certificate or any
legitimate documentary proof (passport, driver
license, voter ID, etc) which is not less than 5 years old
at the time of application.
c. Provide a letter from employer or show any other
proof of employment which is relevant to the course.
d. Pass mature students entrance examination which
includes aptitude test and subject area test.
e. Have a credit in Mathematics and English at WASSCE,
SSSCE or GCE O level.
vii. Professional Certificate Holders
After determination of the equivalences of certificates
applicants would be placed at the appropriate level.
B.Sc. Information Technology
(Evening Programme)
Session: Part-Time
