Vision and Mission statement of the school

Vision

The vision of the University is to become a Centre of Excellence in Ghana and Africa for producing world-class professionals in the fields of mining, technology and related disciplines.

Mission

The mission of the University is:

  • To provide higher education in mining, technology and related disciplines;
  • To promote knowledge through effective teaching, learning, active research and dissemination of information; and
  • To provide professional services through extension activities to the mining and allied industries.

Atlas Copco, a worldwide provider of industrial solutions has presented quantities of assorted books valued at about $15 000 to the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) at a colourful ceremony at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana.

 

The books which cover surface drilling, underground drilling and raise boring equipment also included Atlas Copco newsletters and other souvenirs.

Mr. Patrick Attipoe, Business Manager of Atlas Copco who made the presentation said the donation was part of the company’s commitment to achieve its social responsibility in the area of education, health and water.

He said the company appreciated the role of the University in training people for the mining industry and that the donation was a means to complement UMaT’s contribution to the training and development of mining professional in the Ghana.

Mr. Attipoe further stated that the donation was also to enhance the relationship between the University and Atlas Copco and indicated that the donation was not going to be the first and the last

Prof. Daniel Mireku Gyimah, Vice Chancellor of the University receiving the donation pledged the commitment of the University towards the training of professionals for the mining industry and commended the company for its wonderful gesture.

Present at the ceremony were Mr. E.K Bedai, Registrar of the University, Prof J.S Kuma, Dean, Faculty of Mineral Resource Technology, Prof R.K Amankwa, Dean of Students, Gladys Mantey, Communications Co-ordinator, Atlas Copco, Susana Manu, Abdul Razak and Ernest Nsiah, officials of Atlas Copco.
