THE CURRICULUM
The GBS
Undergraduate curriculum consists of four (4) major
components:
1. General Education Requirements
A business expert should develop an appreciation for deep
analytical thinking and understand the environment in which he
or she operates. To move our students in this direction, GBS
offers a general education component of our undergraduate
degrees. Students must take a total of 51 credits to meet
graduation requirements.
2. Core Business Requirements
Toward equipping students to be excellent business
practitioners, they are introduced to all aspects of business
as part of their studies at GBS. Through these core courses,
students are encouraged to appreciate the value of all functional
areas of business and to gain fundamental understanding
that will facilitate their effectiveness as business leaders. The
component of the undergraduate programme comprises
fourteen (14) courses. Successful completion of all of these
courses is required for graduation.
3. Major Area Electives
Undergraduate students may specialize in one of area of business
as listed elsewhere in this document. This is intended to give
students a deeper understanding of the subject area, building on
the foundational courses taken. Electives are typically taken in the
last two semesters of the programme. Students are required to
complete a minimum of seven (7) elective courses in the chosen
area of specialization.
4.Integrative Practical Experience
Effective business practice requires the effective integration
of the various areas of business. In their final year of study,
students are introduced to this dimension of business practice
through an integrative business project that forces them to apply
the knowledge acquired in the various courses. As on the job,
student work in groups to execute the project. The deliverable is
a comprehensive business project document that addresses a
specific business problem.
