What is the difference between a dentist and a dental therapist?

They may perform procedures like root canals, fillings for cavities, dental crowns, and much more.

In simple terms, dentists can complete more skilled treatment. A therapist provides more general care and education for teeth and gums.

What are the duties of dental therapy?

Their duties include examination and routine dental treatment and prevention work, such as fillings, fissure sealants and extractions of first teeth.

Duties may also include giving local anesthetic and taking X-rays.

Therapists also advise patients and their parents how to care for the patient’s mouth.
