UHAS 2017/2018 Admissions – Access Course Applicants

It is announced for the information of prospective Applicants (as specified above) and the general public that E-vouchers for application forms for programmes for the 2017/2018 Academic Year are now on sale.

 

SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (ACCESSS COURSE / SANDWICH) – HO CAMPUS

Access Course in the School of Nursing and Midwifery is a six (6) to eight (8) week programme to enable General Nurses, Midwives, Public Health Nurses, Mental Health Nurses and Community Health Nurses who already hold certificates or diplomas to enrol onto degree programmes (Sandwich) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. The point of entry will be Level 200 / 100.

Entry Requirements

  • All applicants MUST hold a certificate accredited by Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana
  • Applicants MUST hold certificate(s) in any of the following: Community Health Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or HATS Certificate (EN), Midwifery certificate Post – CHN and Post – EN and Post HAC Midwifery
  • Applicants MUST have practised in their chosen fields for three (3) years or more.
  • A holder of a diploma from a Ministry of Health Training Institution with a final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.00 or better may apply.
  • Crossing over from one programme to another (e.g. General Nursing, Public Health Nursing and Midwifery) is allowed but the point of entry is Level 100 instead of Level 200.
  • Health Assistant (Clinical) (HAC) / Nurse Assistant (Clinical) (NAC) applicants will progress in General Nursing programme and write the Licensing Examination as Registered General Nursing (RGN). The entry point is Level 200.
  • Community Health Nurse (CHN) / Nurse Assistant (Preventive) (NAP) applicants will progress in Public Health Nursing programme and write the Licensing Examination as Registered Community Nursing (RCN). The entry point should be at Level 200.
  • Applicants should upload a scanned copy of their Auxiliary Identification Card showing the Auxiliary Identification Number (AIN) instead of their transcript

 

 

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH (ACCESSS COURSE / SANDWICH) – HOHOE CAMPUS

Access Course in the School of Public Health is a seven (7) week programme (from 7th March to 30th April, 2017 ) to enable certificate or diploma holders with GPA below 2.0 in Public Health and other related areas to enrol onto degree programmes (Sandwich) in the School of Public Health, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Hohoe Campus. The point of entry will be Level 200.

Entry Requirements

  GHANAIAN APPLICANTS

  • A holder of a certificate from Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service training schools, Ministry of Local Government institutions and other accredited health training schools who have practised for three years or more may apply. These shall include: Community Health Nurses, Auxiliary Nurses and Midwives, Health Assistants (Clinical) certificate holders working as Environmental Health Officers, certificate or diploma holders working as Environmental Health Assistants, Nutrition Officers, Disease Control Officers and Health Information Officers as well as Officers in closely related fields such as Statistics, Sociology and Demography.
  • A holder of a diploma in any Health Care discipline or Environmental Health discipline with an FGPA of 1.50 or above who has served in a Health Care position or an Environmental Health position for three years or more may apply.
  • A holder of certificate / diploma awarded by recognised teacher training colleges, who has taught for three years or more, may apply.
  • The duration of the course is seven (7) weeks starting from 7th March, 2017
  • Closing date for application: Tuesday, 28th February, 2017

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

  • Holders of Certificates/Diplomas in any of the health care disciplines or environmental health disciplines and related fields who have practised for three years or more may apply.
  • Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries.
  • In addition, international applicants must satisfy the professional entry requirements determined by the relevant professional body.
  • The point of entry is Level 200.
  • Closing date for application: Tuesday, 28th February, 2017

 

How To Apply

  

DOMESTIC (GHANAIAN) APPLICANTS

Applicants for the 2017/2018 Access Course are required to read the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS carefully before proceeding to apply and they must use  the UHAS online admission portal to apply. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:

I. Applicants are required to purchase University of Health and Allied Sciences E-Vouchers at GH₵ 200.00 (Two Hundred Ghana Cedis) from any branch of the following points of sale:

  • Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) 
  • Agricultural Development Bank (adb)
  • Zenith Bank
  • Ghana Post Offices (i.e. the nearest Post Office

II. The E-Voucher contains a PIN and SERIAL NUMBER. The PIN and SERIAL NUMBER are required in completing the online application form.

III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions

IV. In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.

V. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary), then submit online.

VI. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before they finally submit their online applications. A form, once submitted cannot be edited.

VII. All the three (3) copies printed out must be SIGNED at the DECLARATION PAGE.

VIII. Attach 3 copies of each result transcripts / certificates to the application documents printed out.

IX. Applicants should purchase UHAS EMS envelopes (one big size envelope and one quarto size self-address envelope) from the nearest Ghana Post office.

X. The application documents and the transcripts / certificates in addition to the quarto size self-addressed envelope should be put in the big UHAS EMS envelope and be submitted at the nearest Ghana Post office.

XI. All application document(s) should be submitted via Ghana Post. The University will not accept any application document DIRECTLY from applicants.

II. International Applicants should note that by the Laws of Ghana, they will be expected to obtain a Non-Citizen Ghanacard upon their admission into the University.

III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions and click on “Click to apply as a Foreign Student”.

IV. An activation code will be sent to your mobile number and email address.

V. Go to Form Type and select Foreign Student. Use the activation code to access the application form.

VI. Applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.

VII. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, submit online, then print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary) and sign the DECLARATION PAGES.

VIII. Scan the application summary, your pay-in slip and certificates/results slips into one PDF or WORD document and send as an attachment to info@uhas.edu.gh.

IX. Applicants should note that no application will be processed without proof of payment of the application fee.

X. Upon printing the application summary applicants should attach 3 copies each of their professional certificate(s) and transcript(s).

XI. The application documents as specified in (X) above should be put in ONE envelope and be posted by any fast and reliable means to
