UHAS 2017/2018 Admissions – Top-Up Applicants

It is announced for the information of prospective Applicants (as specified above) and the general public that E-vouchers for application forms for programmes for the 2017/2018 Academic Year are now on sale.

 

SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY (TOP UP – WEEKEND) – HO CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Bachelor of Public Health Nursing
  • Bachelor of Mental Health Nursing

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants must have certification by Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana.
  • Applicants must hold a Diploma with Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.50 or better.
  • Applicants must hold Certificate(s) in any of the following areas: SRN and Public Health Nursing (PHN), Midwifery and Mental Health Nursing / Registered Mental Health Nursing (RMN).
  • Short-listed applicants may be required to attend a selection interview.
  • Applicants MUST have practised in their chosen fields for three (3) years or more.
  • The point of entry will be Level 300.
  • Crossing over from one programme to another (e.g. General Nursing, Public Health Nursing and Midwifery) is allowed but the point of entry is Level 200 instead of Level 300 and they must write the Licensing Examination.
  • Post HAC/CHN having Diploma in Health Science Education from UCC will enter at Level 300 and must write the Licensing Examination.
  • Post NAC/NAP Midwifery applicants will progress in the field of Midwifery and are exempted from writing the Licensing Examination. The point of entry is Level 300 but this is at the discretion of the University. The University may decide to put an applicant at Level 200.

 

SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES (TOP UP – WEEKEND) – HO CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

The School of Allied Health Sciences of the University will run Top-Up programme (week-ends) for professional Medical Laboratory Technicians and other health workers during the academic year. Candidates for the Top-up programme will be admitted to Levels 300 / 200 leading to the award of Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science.

 

Entry Requirements for Level 300

  • Applicants must hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science/Technology awarded by institutions recognized by UHAS with Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.5 or better.
  • Applicants must have not less than 3 years certified practice in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a selection interview
  • Point of entry for successful candidates will be Level 300Other candidates with a BSc degree in Laboratory /Biological Sciences with minimum FGPA of 2.5 or Second Class Division who wants a professional career in medical laboratory science may also apply
  • The point of entry is Level 300

 Entry Requirements for Level 200 

  • Applicants who have no medical laboratory qualification, but have HND (Science Laboratory Technology) qualification and with Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.0 or better are eligible to apply
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years working experience in a laboratory setting
  • Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend a selection interview
  • Point of entry for successful candidates will be Level 200

OR

  • Applicants with certificates in Medical Laboratory Technology and with Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of 2.0 or better from a recognised Ministry of Health Institution or any institution accredited by National Accreditation Board and Allied Health Professional Council respectively
  • Applicants must have not less than 3 years certified practice in medical laboratory science
  • Applicants will be required to pass an access course examination organised by the University
  • Point of entry for successful candidates will be Level 200

 

SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH (TOP UP – SANDWICH) – HOHOE CAMPUS

  • Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) with the following options:

Disease Control
Environmental Health
Health Information
Health Promotion
Nutrition

 

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates with Diploma awarded by recognized Health Institutions and Institutions under the Ministry of Health shall require an FGPA of 2.50 or better/equivalent.
  • Short-listed applicants shall be required to attend a selection interview.
  • A holder of a two year or three year diploma in any Environmental Health discipline with an FGPA of 2.50 or better may apply for Bachelor of Public Health (Environmental Health option).
  • Applicants MUST have practised in their chosen fields for three (3) years or more.
  • The point of entry will be Level 300.

 

How To Apply

 

DOMESTIC (GHANAIAN) APPLICANTS

Applicants for the 2017/2018 Academic year admission are required to read the ENTRY REQUIREMENTS carefully before proceeding to apply and they must use  the UHAS online admission portal to apply. The procedure for the online application process is as follows:

I. Applicants are required to purchase University of Health and Allied Sciences E-Vouchers at GH₵ 200.00 (Two Hundred Ghana Cedis) from any branch of the following points of sale:

  • Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) 
  • Agricultural Development Bank (adb)
  • Zenith Bank
  • Ghana Post Offices (i.e. the nearest Post Office

II. The E-Voucher contains a PIN and SERIAL NUMBER. The PIN and SERIAL NUMBER are required in completing the online application form.

III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions

IV. In completing the online form, applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.

V. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, submit online, then print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary) and sign the DECLARATION PAGES.

VI. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before they finally submit their online applications. A form, once submitted cannot be edited.

VII. All the three (3) copies printed out must be SIGNED at the DECLARATION PAGE.

VIII. Attach 3 copies of each result slip / certificate to the application documents printed out.

IX. Applicants should purchase UHAS EMS envelopes (one big size envelope and one quarto size self-address envelope) from the nearest Ghana Post office.

X. The application documents and the result slips in addition to the quarto size self-addressed envelope should be put in the big UHAS EMS envelope and be submitted at the nearest Ghana Post office.

XI. All application document(s) should be submitted via Ghana Post. The University will not accept any application document DIRECTLY from applicants.

II. International Applicants should note that by the Laws of Ghana, they will be expected to obtain a Non-Citizen Ghanacard upon their admission into the University.

III. Access the online form by visiting our online admission portal at uhasonline.com/admissions and click on “Click to apply as a Foreign Student”.

IV. An activation code will be sent to your mobile number and email address.

V. Go to Form Type and select Foreign Student. Use the activation code to access the application form.

VI. Applicants will be required to upload their passport size photograph (not more than 400KB) with a white background.

VII. Upon completing the APPLICATION PROCESS, submit online, then print three (3) copies of the PREVIEW PAGE (i.e. application summary) and sign the DECLARATION PAGES.

VIII. Scan the application summary, your pay-in slip and certificates/results slips into one PDF or WORD document and send as an attachment to info@uhas.edu.gh

IX. Applicants should note that no application will be processed without proof of payment of the application fee.

X. Upon printing the application summary applicants should attach 3 copies each of their certificate(s) and transcript(s).

XI. The application documents as specified in (X) above should be put in ONE envelope and be posted by any fast and reliable means to
