UGBS Holds Orientation for EMBA Students
The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has organised an orientation for its February 2017 Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) students, on Thursday 9th February, 2017 at the school’s Graduate Building.
Welcoming the students, Professor Joshua Yindenaba Abor, the Dean of UGBS, expressed gratitude to them for making UGBS their preferred choice. He mentioned that UGBS prides itself as the premier business school in the sub-region with a vision to develop global leaders. He noted that once the students have chosen to enrol with UGBS they have taken the first step towards becoming global leaders.
Professor Abor explained that, as part of the UGBS’ new strategic drive, the use of case studies will be incorporated in teaching and learning. This he said will enable students to have a hands-on practical business education. In concluding his address, he encouraged the students to challenge the status quo, question theories and push faculty to give them the best. On behalf of the Vice Chancellor, the Dean then welcomed the students to the University of Ghana and the business school.
The School Administrator, Mrs Stella Dovlo, presented a brief overview of the School and its programmes and activities. She took the students through the general rules and regulations governing the school and informed them on its various facilities. She mentioned that as part of the programme, UGBS organises study tours to USA and UK in the months of January and July respectively, to equip students with skills in problem solving, creative thinking, individual and team attitudes, mentorship and networking. She encouraged students to abide by the rules and utilise the school’s facilities within the officially stipulated times.
Dr. Dan Quaye, the EMBA management committee programme Chair, congratulated the students for choosing UGBS ahead of other Universities. This he attributed to their belief in the academic capabilities of the school. He took them through registration procedures and examination regulations and implored them to familiarise themselves with regulations governing Graduate studies and the University’s examinations.
Mrs Majorie Beeko, the Acting Programmes Manager of the EMBA, shed some light on students’ registration and encouraged them to direct any concerns to the appropriate office to be addressed.
