UGBS-Executive Development Organises Tax Workshop

The University of Ghana Business School Executive Development (UGBS ED) has organised a three-day Tax Workshop from 1st – 3rd February 2017 at the Graduate Building. The second edition of the workshop, forms part of a series of workshops designed to empower participants to comply with the requirements of the Income Tax Act 2015 (act 896), Revenue Administration Act 2016 (act 915) and Income Tax Regulation 2016 (L.I.2244).

The workshop, facilitated by Dr. Mohammed Amidu, Head of Department, Accounting and Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Accounting, educated participants on a wide range of tax related topics including tax recovery, tax payments, tax reduction, tax refunds, tax penalties, tax interests and tax offences.
According to Dr. Ibrahim Bedi, there has been a modification in current tax laws and it is advisable for Accountants and Managers to update themselves, since a breach of these tax laws may have dire consequences.

The Coordinator for the workshop, Mrs Gifty Enchill, stressed the importance of the workshop and urged corporate bodies to be part of these series of workshops to enhance the capacity of tax administrators to comply with the requirements of the Tax Acts. She further noted that, the workshop will be an annual programme and is currently in session from January 25th to March 3rd 2017. She commended participants for their active involvement and meaningful contributions towards the workshop.
