The Takoradi Technical University (TTU) unveils the institution’s Cloth and commissions new Ambulance – 2018

TTU COMMISSIONS NEW AMBULANCE AND UNIVERSITY CLOTH

Takoradi Technical University as part of effort to provide superior health care delivery has commissioned a brand new ambulance to the university community and the people in the western region.

The GHS400,000.00 ambulance will be used to support health care in the region to save lives of people with emergencies.

The Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun made these observations during the commissioning of the ambulance and unveiling of new university cloth.

According to Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun the ambulance will help the university provide superior services to our cherished students, staff and the communities in the region that may need the services of the ambulance.

He also revealed that the university was in talks with the Regional Health Directorate to strategize on how health facilities in the region can benefit from the services of the ambulance as a social responsibility to the communities surrounding the university.

Rev. Prof. Eshun indicated that the university clinic has under-gone expansion for an upgrade into a health centre/ hospital, which included a new laboratory and pharmacy.

According to him the university hopes to upgrade the level of it hospital to a world class medical facility and open it up to the general public, which would not only generate revenue for the institution but also to fulfill the university’s corporate-social responsibility to the neighboring communities.

“As part of our plans to upgrade to a hospital, we have installed equipment to complete the laboratory and pharmacy and by August we will meet again to inaugurate the hospital”, he added.

Explaining the concept behind the design of the university cloth, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology, Dr. Kweku Sarfo Ankama said the design represent excellence in technical and vocational education in manpower training.

Dr. Sarfo Ankama further explained that the motif symbolizes honesty and trustworthiness of its members and the nature of global world of technological education and training undertaken at the institution.

The motto: “Nsa, akoma na adwen ma mpuntu” represented the skills and knowledge engender development.

Dr. Ankamah observed that the rich yellow colour represented the wealth that results from the application of the skills and knowledge acquired through unique education at the institution, Whilst, the red colour symbolizes hard work and personal sacrifices which underlie success in all endeavors.
