KsTU Shines In China as a Staff Receives Distinguished Student Award

One member of staff of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Mr. Adjei-Saforo Kwafo Edmund  has made the University proud by winning the covetous award as the Distinguished Foreign Student. The annual award was offered by the Peoples’ Republic of China through China’s Ministry of Education. Mr. Adjei-Saforo was adjudged the overall best student in the School of International Education in 2017 after winning the highly competitive award in 2016 which was based on the Lanzhou Jiaotong University’s benchmark recognition.

The KsTU Electrical and Electronics Department’s staff pursued Masters in Engineering in power systems and Automation at the Lanzhou Jiaotong University in China. In all, ten people were nominated by the University for the Award. Eventually, he was adjudged the outstanding international student. The Award among other things, was based on internal performance and class position which he occupied the 19th position out of 127 students. There were also some extra curricula activities like Tug of War, showcasing one’s traditional cuisine as well as Chinese language proficiency.

Mr. Adjei-Saforo completed Kumasi Technical University (then Kumasi Polytechnic) in 2006 with first class honours and was the overall best student. He possesses B.Sc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and BEng (IC) in Electronics and Communication. Until his departure to China for further studies, he held positions such as Assistant Examination Officer and later, the Assistant Project Coordinator.
