Communication Students Of Pentvars Urged To Take Up The Mantle Of Leadership

Final year students of the Communications Department of Pentecost University College have been challenged to come out of fear and work towards being the best leaders in the country. This comes on the back of a leadership workshop held to teach students about leadership and communication in an era of discontent.

Founder of the Rixon OC Group and spokesperson for the workshop, Dr Rixon Campbell, challenged students to take the mantle of leadership in the media setting. The world is not looking forward to accepting people who are weak and fearful but are ready to cause a change in the global world. “You have roles to play as PR practitioners, journalists and advertisers and you should play it well,” he stated.

He further went on to encourage students of the Department to get involved in extracurricular activities as this is what employers seek in staff recruitment and not just the grades.

He encouraged them to listen and pay attention to the global news as ‘free speech’ is no longer free. The era of fake news has made it necessary for journalists, PR practitioners and advertisers to uphold credibility and still be fierce enough to challenge the status quo.
