4th Ladies’ Summit Held for UMaT Ladies – 2017

The 4th ladies’ summit for all ladies of the University of Mines and Technology has been held on the theme “The Unstoppable Woman”. The summit was organised with the aim of assembling all the ladies in the University to give them words of encouragement and to help them to be unstoppable women as they study in a male dominated field. This year’s summit was addressed by Mrs Lucia Asamoah Okyere, the wife of Bishop Peter Asamoah Okyere, the Leading Pastor of Abiding Glory House Chapel.

She advised the ladies to believe in their dreams and not to let anything to stop them from achieving their purpose of coming to UMaT to study. She encouraged them to see their coming to UMaT as God sent so that they would strive to achieve their dreams. She emphasised that they were here for a mission and so they should refuse to be average students in terms of their performance. She admonished them to see themselves as stars and do everything to shine in whatever they do as women. She encouraged them to try to be extraordinary in their dealings. They should do well not to disappoint their family. Above all they must go the extra mile as women of courage and faith.

UMaT Ladies at the Summit

She informed the ladies that she came to the summit with the aim to stir them up and to put their destiny in focus with the kingdom’s direction and to position them mentally, psychologically, spiritually, emotionally and physically so that they would leave the summit grounds being totally changed persons and also that when they were finally done with their studies and the world of work they would be found as relevant ladies to the society.  She said that the unstoppable woman was the woman that was strategically positioned in a certain place in God.

The Chairperson for the occasion, Dr Mrs Naa Dedei Tagoe, a Lecturer at the Department of Geomatic Engineering, advised the ladies to hold on to their faith and to live under the grace of the Almighty God. She explained that it was important for them to realise that the University was one of the most diverse environments they would ever find themselves. They would come into contact with many people who believe in different things and so they should not lose sight of their faith in God. She admonished them never to underestimate the power of prayer in their academic lives. She continued to advise them that when faced with challenges and there seemed to be no way out, they should put their trust in the Lord Jesus. Since according to Dr Tagoe, the Lord who had begun a good thing in their lives will surely see them through to the end.
