Presbyterian University College, Ghana, is a Christian University affiliated to University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and University of Cape Coast and accredited by the National Accreditation Board.

The PUCG goes beyond its proud record of academic excellence to create an environment that shapes the personality of its students. In this regard, the University trains its products through its academic and co – curricular activities predicated on the core principle of training the Head, Heart and Hand, that is the 3Hs.

Ms. Victoria Ada Udah

Presbyterian Schools have the long standing tradition of training dedicated and disciplined leaders. With hard working Administrative and Academic Staff led by Rev. Prof Emmanuel Adow Obeng, one is assured of excellence. PUCG’s recent achievements have come by dint of hard work by both staff and students.

In the 2016 Edition of Webometrics World Ranking of Universities, Presbyterian University College, Ghana, is ranked 3rd best Private University and 7th best University in Ghana. The ranking is done based on Openness, Impact, Excellence and Presence.

The University has not rested on its oars but has worked hard to achieve greater heights. The University has won a number of national quizzes and awards. The Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences of the Asante Akyem Campus won the 2015 National Debate on Buruli Ulcer which was organized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC) for all Nursing Training Institutions in Ghana.

A student of the Department of Nursing, Ms. Akpoborme Enohor Sandra, was adjudged the Overall Best Candidate in the 2015 Registered General Nursing (RGN) Licensure Examination (Written), organized by the NMC, with six distinctions in these courses: Medicine and Medical Nursing, Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing, Obstetric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Public Health Nursing as well as Surgery and Surgical Nursing. She was decorated with the Dr. Mary Opare Award which is the highest award of the NMC to the Overall Best Candidate in Ghana.

To top up the achievements above the Department again obtained 100% pass rate in the 2016 February Licensure Examination, topping all participating tertiary institutions in this all-important professional examination.

The Department of Physician Assistantship of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences has modestly established PUCG as a leading University in Ghana and the Sub-Region in the training of Physician Assistants. The Department won the maiden 2016 Physician Assistant Students’ Association of Ghana National Quiz and also obtained 100 % pass rate in the 2015 Licensure Examination organized by the Medical and Dental Council, Ghana.

The University encourages its students to participate in competitions as a way of creating an environment that allows its students to explore their potentials and sharpen their skills for Social and Economic development. In 2015, the University competed in the maiden Inter – Private University National Debate. The University won the competition by beating Ashesi University in the Grand Final. These achievements underlie the University’s potential to becoming the best Private university in Ghana.

Presbyterian University College, Ghana has a policy of creating an environment that promotes excellence among its staff and students to excel in every enterprise. Ms Victoria Ada Udah, another female talent, also a Nigerian International Student of the Faculty of Development Studies of the Akuapem Campus, was adjudged the most Impressive Sports Person of the 2016 Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) Games. She was outstanding in winning five (5) medals in the games – four (4) silver medals and one (1) bronze medal in the 2016 PUSAG Games.

 

Programmes

PUCG is affiliated to the three top Public Universities in Ghana – UG, UCC and KNUST. Our market driven programmes are designed in response to tailor-made market indicators and to prepare students for the dynamic job market.

PUCG is affiliated to University of Ghana (UG) for its programmes in BSc. Business Administration, BSc. Business Economics, BSc. Information and Communication Technology and Mathematics which comes with options that make students versatile on the job market – Mathematics with Statistics, Mathematics with Accounting and Pure Mathematics. The other Programmes under UG are B.A. Rural and Community Development, BSc. Environmental and Natural Resource Management, and BSc. Nursing. The BSc. Agribusiness and BSc. Physician Assistantship programmes are affiliated to KNUST.

Presby University

Adding up to our flagship programmes, PUCG has introduced two new programmes in the Faculty of Education – Bachelor of Education (Social Studies) and Bachelor of Education (Business Studies) both affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. These programmes have been planned to provide flexibility for working students to be trained in their preferred field of study.

To meet current global market needs, the University is expanding its programmes base to add up to its existing programmes. The University has these programmes awaiting affiliation and accreditation to commence: Optometry, Computer Engineering, B.Ed. Languages, B.Ed. Information Management and Educational Technologies as well as Master of Educational Studies.

 

Accommodation / Transport

The University offers students at all levels hostel accommodation to ensure that our students do not face accommodation challenges in the course of their study. Our hostels take a maximum of four (4) students per room. There’s more to residence hall living than convenience and common interests.  There are shuttle busses to support students’ movements on campus.
