UPSA Staff Marks VC DAY Of Sports
All work and no play they say makes Jack a dull boy. It is against this backdrop that the University community on Thursday dropped their pens, markers, handouts, and other teaching gadgets for the training pitches to exercise-off their busy selves.
The one-day sporting event dubbed the “VC Day of Sports” took place at the Sports Complex and saw the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abednego Amartey, Senior Members, senior and junior staff come face-to-face in a number of sporting activities.
The day took off with some aerobics session as both the young and the old proved their mettle when it comes to gymnastics and endurance. Although some, funnily, could not exercise for more than ten minutes, others, however, lasted the entire period- as if to suggest to the weaker bones that “yes we are in top form.“
Among the fiercely competed activities were football, volleyball, tennis, and basketball. There were also Draft and Cards for the local champions as well.
But the main highlight of the day was when Professor Kwame Frimpong, Dean of the Faculty of Law, took on some UTAG members in the game of cards. The veteran lawyer exhibited some dexterities to the admiration of all who were gathered.
Another high point was the cliffhanger draft game between the Vice-Chancellor and a TEWU member which pulled some sizeable audience.
The ladies were not left out as most of them proved the athletism side of them in games like volleyball, football, Ludu, Oware et al.
In all, it was a fun day and there were no winners or losers!
