UEW SANDWICH REQUIREMENTS

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR M.A. PROGRAMMES

Applicants should possess:

i. A good Bachelor’s Degree with Education component (eg. B.Ed.), from the University of Education (UEW) or its equivalent from a recognized University in the relevant field of study, or

ii. A good Bachelor’s Degree  without Education e.g. (B.A, BSc) from an accredited university

iii. Applicants with good first degrees from any field of study can apply for M.A. Human Rights, Conflict and Peace Studies and M.A. Communication & Media Studies programmes.

M.A. EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND M. ED PROGRAMMES

i. A good Bachelor’s Degree with Education component (eg. B.Ed.), from a recognized University in the relevant field of study.

ii. Applicants with B.A. or BSc. degree without education must also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Education or Diploma in Education

MSC IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION

i. A good Bachelor’s Degree (2nd Class Lower Division or better) in

Information Technology Education (ITE), Information Technology (IT).

ii. Computer Science and any other  Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems (e.g. Management Information System, Business Information System, etc.)

i. Applicants with 3rd Class Degree in the relevant discipline (i. above)shall have to pass an entrance examination.

ii. A pass in a selection interview to be organized by the Department.

M.ED TEACHING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (T.E.S.L.)

Applicants with a good Bachelor’s Degree in any subject area and who TEACH ENGLISH are eligible to apply.

M. ED. IN MENTORSHIP

This programme is run in the distance learning mode.

Applicant must:

i. Be a teacher mentor trained by UEW in the past

ii. Hold a first degree with education component (eg B. Ed) from a recognized University in the subject specific area and should have taught for at least two years.

iii. Possess a first degree in a subject specific area plus postgraduate diploma/certificate in education.

iv. Be a teacher in basic school at the level of principal superintendent and above in the Ghana Education Service status ranking

v. Be recommended by his/her head of school.

MSC. ECONOMICS

Applicants must:

a) Possess good first degree (At least 2nd Class Lower Division) in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or related programme of study at the tertiary level of education from recognized universities.

b) Pass a selection interview.

M.ED. GEOGRAPHY EDUCATION

Applicants should:

i. Possess Second class lower or better in Geography or any related discipline.

ii. Pass the selection interview.

M. A. ART EDUCATION

Applicants must possess:

a) A good first degree in relevant discipline (Studio Art, Art Education, Design or Art History) from a recognized tertiary institution.

M.ED EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

Applicants must:

a) Possess a good first degree (at least 2nd Class Lower Division) from the University of Education or other Universities recognised by the Academic Board of the University of Education, Winneba or from any institution accredited by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana.

b) Applicants with a good honours (second class lower or better) degree in other disciplines other than Education are required to obtain a Diploma in Education or its equivalence before applying.

c) Applicants with 3rd class Honours in their respective first degrees would be required to pass an interview and an entrance examination.

M.ED. AGRICULTURE

Entry Requirements:

a) Candidates should possess a first degree in agriculture or in a related discipline with a minimum of a third-class or a pass.

b) Candidates with degrees in related field such as biology, biochemistry and microbiology can also apply.

c) Applicants with Third class or pass must pass an entrance examination and interview.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION (This programme is run in the distance learning mode and on Sandwich Basis)

i. Applicant should hold a first Degree from a recognized institution.

ii. Must have an interest in teaching.

iii. Must pass an interview.

iv. Applicants without any education background (Qualification in Education) would be required to audit courses in education.

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN TEACHING & LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION (PGDTLHE)

Applicant should be:

i. A beginning lecturer in the University of Education, Winneba.

ii. A Master’s/ Doctorate degree holder who wishes to pursue an academic career as a teacher in tertiary institutions.

iii. Lecturers from tertiary institutions who have no formal qualifications teaching in Higher Education.

M.ED IN TEACHING AND LEARNING (RESEARCH MASTERS)

Applicants must:

a) Have a good first degree (Second Class Lower or better). Teaching experience is an advantage.

b) Have a second degree in a specialized subject, plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education or Diploma in Education.

c) Pass the selection interview.

MBA IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT- Winneba

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

Category A

 Candidates for admission to the programme must have earned a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised University in any discipline with at least 2nd Class Lower Division. Applicants with a 3rd Class would be required to sit for  written entrance examination and an oral interview.

Category B

Candidates with full membership in recognized professional bodies, e.g. IHRMP, SHRM, CIPD, ACCA, ICA (G), CIMA, CIM and ICSA could also apply. Selection will be done through an interview.

MBA IN ACCOUNTING-Winneba

Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

i.) At least 2nd Class (Lower Division) honours degree in Accounting.

i) Applications may also be considered from Graduates in non- business areas with strong practical accounting experience from industry.Applicants with a 3rd Class would be required to sit for written entrance examination and an oral interview.

ii) Professionally, qualified Accountants or a member of one of the Accounting bodies constitutingthe International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) for example ICAG,ACCA.ICAEW and CIMA etc.

iii. In addition to requirements i) to iii) above: applicants must have a minimum of one year experience in accounting in the private or public sector. Also candidates must pass the selection interview to qualify for admission.

M.ED POLITICAL SCIENCE EDUCATION

i. Candidates apply for the programme should have Political Science major

ii. (First Degree) or combined Political Science with another subject, and

must have attained at least a pass.

ii.Applicant with a third class and a pass will write an entrance examination or pass a selection interview or both to be conducted by the Department.

MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY (MTECH.) IN AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME

Applicant must:

i) Possess B.Sc., B.Ed, B.Tech in Automotive Technology/Engineering or comparable degrees with at least Second Class (Lower Division)

ii) Pass the selection interview

MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY (MTECH.) IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMME

Applicant must:

i) Possess B.Sc., B.Ed, B.Tech in Automotive Technology/Engineering or comparable degrees with at least Second Class (Lower Division)

ii) Pass the selection interview

NB.  ALL FOREIGN DEGREES MUST BE ACCOMPANIED WITH ITS INTERPRETATION FROM THE NATIONAL ACCREDITATION BOARD.
