KNUST Needy Students gets support from S.T. Nankani Scholarships Scheme – 2018

The S.T. Nankani Scholarships Scheme has donated six thousand cedis (₵6,000) to ten brilliant but needy second year students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Beneficiaries of the bursary who are needy and brilliant second year students in the Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Health Sciences, Science and Engineering were given six hundred cedis (₵600) each.

Presenting the bursaries, Dr. Essel Ben Hagan said the S. T. Nankani Fund was set up in 2003 in honour of the late Chairman of Nankani and Hagan Limited according to his personal request prior to his demise in 2001.

Dr. Ben Hagan said since its inception, one hundred and thirty (130) students have benefitted from the scholarship with the Fund being administered by a Board of Trustees chaired by Professor Martha Tamakloe. The key objective of the Fund is to further the education and encourage gender and regional diversity of Ghanaian students at KNUST.

Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of management expressed his gratitude to the S. T. Nankani Group for extending a hand of support to the University. He advised the beneficiaries not to abuse the opportunities given them but to study hard and comport themselves. Professor Obiri-Danso used the occasion to appeal for more support for other needy students in the institution.

Recipients of the scholarships were Ofoe Jepthan Tettey, Appiah Samuel Nkansa, Sey Samuel,Acquah Enock Kofi and Dapaa Richmond. Others were Nopuo Prince, Eboye Benjamin, Lavoe Prosper Mawuli, Kyei Joseph, Yankey Zakariah Kofi.

Other members from the Board of Trustees were Professor Fred Akuffo and Mr. Prince Hagan. Accompanying them were Mr. Peter Hayford, Mr. Suresh, Mr. George Opoku all from the Nankani and Hagan Limited.
