In a welcome address on behalf of the Presiding Bishop, the Administrative Bishop Rt. Rev. Micheal A. Bossman thanked the Principal and his delegation for the visit.

The Principal in his remarks on behalf of MUCG congratulated the Presiding Bishop as well as the Administrative Bishop since they both had been newly elected into office. He told the Presiding Bishop that Management was committed to help rebuild the image of MUCG and promised financial transparency. He also touched on some internal and external factors that posed challenges to the University College and assured the Church hierarchy that he and his Management team were doing their best to overcome the challenges being faced. He asked for the support of the Church for the University.

The Acting Registrar, Mr. Ekow Essilfie Quaye and the Asst. Registrar (PR), Mr. Kwesi A. Adjepong took turns to explain a range of external factors which were adversely affecting student enrollment. Some of the issues that were raised are competition from both State and other Private Universities and unfair regulations imposed by regulatory/mentor institutions. An appeal was made to the Presiding Bishop to use his high office and influence to engage Government and Policy Makers to help bring on board fair play in the operations of both state and private universities.

The Presiding Bishop in his response pledged his continuous support in building the university. He said the establishment of the university was one of the visions of the Methodist Church and that it was very important to uphold it. He said members of the Church must be told to commit themselves to building the university. He talked about the Methodist brand and its historic contribution to education in the Nation. He said MUCG must maintain being among the best universities in the country.

He also admonished Management of the University College to work hard in realizing the university’s charter to make it possible for the Government to place the Church’s Colleges of Education under the Methodist University.

He made a passionate appeal to Management to put up a befitting Church building on MUCG campus to serve as a place of worship.
