Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship (LKY) for Singaporean Students, 2017

Applications are invited for Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship from Singaporean students to pursue either a Masters or PhD programme at a local or overseas university. The scholarship will provide up to 2 years of sponsorship for a Masters degree and up to 5 years of sponsorship for a PhD degree.

The Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Scholarship is synonymous with both prestige and a willingness to serve Singapore. It marks Singapore’s continuous effort to recognise outstanding individuals with the aptitude and inclination to contribute to our society. With contributions from the public, the LKY Scholarship Fund was set up in 1991 in honour of Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Course Level: Scholarship is awarded to pursue postgraduate studies (either a Masters or PhD programme) at a local or overseas university.

Study Subject(s): Scholarship is available to study all the subjects offered by the university.

Scholarship Award: This scholarship does not carry any bond. Scholarship recipients will receive a one-off sum of S$10,000, and an annual allowance of: S$50,000 for private sector awardees; or S$10,000 for public sector awardees, if they are concurrently sponsored by their organisations.

Scholarship can be taken at Local or overseas university

Eligibility:  Applicants, who must be Singapore citizens, will be assessed holistically. This includes their academic achievements and track record of leadership and service (e.g. volunteer work, social enterprise, contributions to cultural, scientific and/or academic communities etc.) within or beyond their profession. There are no restrictions on the course of study.

Nationality: The Lee Kuan Yew scholarship is only open to Singaporean Citizens.
