Bayport Financial Services Supports College of Engineering with Twenty Thousand Cedis
Bayport Savings and Loans, a leading non-banking financial institution in Ghana, has supported the College of Engineering (CoE) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with twenty thousand Ghana cedis in order to support needy students in the College.
Presenting a cheque, Kwadwo Korsah, Head of Marketing, noted that the initial donation of twenty thousand is for a semester. Mr. korsah said his outfit plans to spend two hundred thousand cedis(₵200,000) for the next five years.
Receiving the cheque, Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso, Vice-Chancellor, stated that over 20% of students have genuine needs and given the opportunity and the necessary support, they excel in their studies. He continued that averagely a student needs ten Ghana cedis a day for upkeep and a monthly amount of three hundred (₵300) cedis which would go a long way to keep them in school. He therefore thanked Bayport Savings and Loans for supporting the efforts of the College to help needy students.
In an interview with the Provost of CoE, Professor Mark Adom-Asamoah expressed his gratitude to the donor institution for the support and assured them that the money would be put to good use. He was hopeful that the investment in the students would go a long way to help beneficiaries to realize their dreams. He also used the occasion to call for more support from individuals and corporate institutions to sustain the initiative.
