ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES TO UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR

It is announced for the information of Prospective Applicants and the general public that Application Forms for Admission to the following Four Year Undergraduate Programmes of the University’s Accra City Campus, Kwabeya as well as Top-up Programmes at all Centres of the Institute Distance Learning for the 2016/2017 Academic Year are now on sale:

The Sale of Admission Forms is open to the following Applicants:

WASSCE/SSSCE ADVANCED LEVEL/MATURE AND IB CANDIDATES

1. WASSCE/SSSCE Holders who have credits (A1-C6/A-D Respectively) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A1-C6/ A-D) in Three Elective Subjects with an Aggregate Score of 24 or better in the relevant Area of Study.

OR

2. ADVANCED LEVEL Holders with credits in at least Five (5) subjects at the GCE ‘O’ Level (or its equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least two passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level

OR

3. MATURE STUDENTS who have attained the age of 25 years or above at the time of Application and have credits in Five (5) GCE ‘O Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, in addition to passing an Entrance Examination and /or Interview.

OR

3. INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE

4. FOREIGN APPLICANTS (online Application only) who have any of the above qualifications or their equivalent from an accredited/recognized institution.

CANDIDATES WHO HAVE APPLIED FOR THE 2016/2017 REGULAR ADMISSIONS AND WERE NOT PLACED AND WISH TO BE CONSIDERED MAY INDICATE THIS ONLINE USING THEIR APPLICATION NUMBER AND PIN.

The starting date for all Programmes is January, 2017.

B. Admission to the Pre-Bridging Programme for Certificate Holders of Health Training Institution.

  1. Post-Basic Midwifery
  2. EN/HAC
  3. Community Health Nursing

To apply for the Pre-Bridging Access Programme leading to the Diploma in Registered Midwifery, Registered General Nursing and Registered Community Health Nursing,

Duration of the Pre-Bridging Programme

The Programme will run on week-ends only for eight (8) weeks.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR TOP-UP PROGRAMMES

General Requirement for all Programmes

  1. Applicants must have at least 5 (five) credits in GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics and at least 6 (six) credits in  SSSCE/WASSCE subjects in the relevant areas, including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science with an aggregate not exceeding 24.
  2. All HND applicants should have obtained at least a Second Class Lower Division in the respective fields.

Specific Requirements

In addition to these general requirements, programme specific requirement is stated below.

a. BSc. Geomatic Engineering

HND in Surveying or Diploma in Geodetic/Geomatic Engineering or its equivalent.

b. BSc. Agricultural Engineering

HND in Agricultural Engineering or its equivalent Diploma certificate.

c. BSc. Computer Engineering

HND in Computer Engineering/Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent Diploma certificate.

d. BSc. Construction Technology and Management (CTM)/Quantity Surveying and Construction Economics (QSCE)

HND in Building Technology or its equivalent diploma certificate. A sound background in mathematics is required.

e. BSc. Mechanical Engineering

HND or its equivalent diploma certificate in any of the following Mechanical Engineering disciplines:

  1. Production Engineering
  2. Plant Engineering
  3. Automobile Engineering
  4. Refrigeration and Air- Conditioning
  5. Foundry Technology

f. BSc. Statistics

HND in Statistics or its equivalent diploma certificate.

g. BSc. Computer Science

HND or its equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Data Processing, Information Systems/Sciences and any area related to any of the programmes listed.

h. BSc. Actuarial Science

HND or equivalent Diploma Certificate in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science or Accounting

University graduates holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Science or Statistics

i. BSc. Information Technology

HND or equivalent Diploma Certificate in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Data Processing, Information Systems/Sciences and any area related to any of the programmes listed.

A first degree in any Physical Sciences and Engineering programme may also apply.

 j. BSc. Chemical Engineering

HND or its equivalent in Chemical Engineering.

k. BSc. Petroleum Engineering

  1. HND in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering.
  2. First Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

Cost of E-voucher is as follows:

  • ALL UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES – GHȻ 190.00 for Ghanaian Applicants and $190 for Foreign Applicants.
  • The Pre-Bridging – GHȻ 150

ALL APPLICANTS ARE TO CAREFULLY READ ALL THE INSTRUCTION TO THE END BEFORE STARTING THE APPLICATION PROCESSES.

NOTE:

  • ALL APPLICANTS ARE TO VISIT THE (admission portal) AND COMPLETE AN ONLINE APPLICATION USING THE E-VOUCHER PROVIDED. TWO COPIES OF THE ONLINE APPLICATION SHOULD BE PRINTED AND POSTED TO THE DIRECTOR, IDL, KNUST, KUMASI, TOGETHER WITH ALL RELEVANT CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.
  • APPLICANTS MUST INCLUDE IN THEIR APPLICATION FORMS CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES OF THEIR CERTIFICATES / RESULTS.
