The Vice-Chancellor stated that, at the end of the exercise, the AQRM Team highly commended the Institution for voluntarily subjecting itself to the test by that deed. This he said made KNUST automatically a role model for West Africa and Ghanaian universities.

Professor Obiri Danso said KNUST is currently working very hard on other policy documents which will help boost its current rating and brand. The National Accreditation Board also visited KNUST as part of a five-year cyclical institutional visit.

The Vice-Chancellor used the occasion to also inform Members of Convocation that the seed capital of ₵100,000 for the KNUST Research Fund (KreF) has been increased to ₵500,000. He also reported that grants to the University increased from $58,678,971.41 in 2016 to $66,212,969 in 2017, with current grant amounting to $1,469,542 as at March, 2018. He commended researchers and encouraged them to apply for more grants to spearhead research in the University and Ghana.
