GIMPA 2017 Admission Of Candidates To Masters’ Degree In Public Sector Management

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has introduced an innovative training programme to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Public Sector Management in West Africa.

The Public Sector Management Training Programme (PSMTP) is a one–year intensive masters’ degree programme that is designed to equip Anglophone West African countries with a critical mass of Public Sector Managers, trained to provide effective leadership for meeting the developmental challenges in their various countries. The programme provides professional training that leads to the award of a Master of Public Sector Management (MPSM) degree.

TARGET GROUP:

Applicants must be middle-to- senior level professionals, officers and managers from the Public Sector, who would use their acquired skills and competences to contribute to the collective pursuit of sustainable development, poverty reduction and economic transformation on the African Continent.

Governmental Institutions, Private Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations are entreated to sponsor their staff onto this innovative programme. Employers are expected to make an explicit commitment to re-engage successful graduates and provide them with the requisite institutional environment [including appropriate incentive packages] that would enable them to make good use of the acquired skills and competences.

The programme will run from January to December 2018.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

(GHANAIAN APPLICANTS ONLY)-Applicant must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree from any approved/ recognised University with a minimum of a 2nd Class Lower Division; or equivalent professional qualification certified by the Ghana National Accreditation Board (Or appropriate Ghanaian National Authority).
  • Have at least two (2) years relevant managerial work experience after first degree or professional qualification.
  • Have permission (study leave) or endorsement from employers (with a commitment to return to their posts).
  • Candidates must be released on a one year study leave and Employers must make a commitment to provide supplementary support to candidates to cover accommodation, book allowance and other expenses.
  • Have competency in at least the use of Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Present a plan specifying how the newly acquired skills and knowledge will be applied in solving problems at the work place.

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Application forms and a brochure of the Programme may be purchased from the Cashier’s office at GIMPA for Two Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢200.00)* or downloaded from www.gimpa.edu.gh and paid for during submission.

Completed application forms with payment receipts, certified copies of certificates, original transcripts, two reference letters from immediate supervisor and officer in-charge of study leave release, should be submitted to the Programme Coordinator at the PSMTP Secretariat by September 15, 2017.

TUITION FEE- FOR GHANAIANS

The tuition fee is GH¢17,500.00 for the programme.
