ANNOUNCEMENT – POLICE RECRUITMENT 2017/2018.

APPLICATION OPENS ON MONDAY, 20TH NOVEMBER, 2017

POLICE RECRUITMENT 2017/2018 : GENERAL DUTY RECRUITS, TRADESMEN AND GRADUATES (GENERAL DUTY AND PROFESSIONALS)

 

1. The Ghana Police Service will from MONDAY 20th NOVEMBER, 2017 open recruitment opportunity for qualified persons who are interested in Law Enforcement to apply to join the Police Service. The available categories are General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen Recruits,Graduates(General Duty) and Graduates Professionals. There are sub-categories of Tradesmen and Graduate Professionals. However, all Applicants must satisfy all general requirements in addition to specific requirements for a chosen category/sub category. The application process shall be originated online; therefore, physical submission of application will not be acceptable.

 

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

All Applicants shall satisfy these requirements in addition to the specific requirement for a specific category. An Applicant must ;
a. Be a Ghanaian
b. Be of good character and without criminal record;
c. Not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment;
d. Be not more than the age stated for a specific category by 1st January, 2018;
e. Be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches (163cm) for females;
f. Be physically and medically fit by Ghana Police Service standards;
g. Be able to speak and write in fluent English Language;
h. Be knowledgeable in basic computer application;
i. have active e-mail account and mobile phone number;
j. Be ready to undergo basic Police training and other forms of training;

 

 

3. CATEGORIES OF ENTRY:

A. GENERAL DUTY RECRUIT: In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be less than 18 years and not more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess a minimum of five credits (A1 – C6 at WASSCE) including English Language and a pass in Mathematics (D7 and E8 at WASSCE)

 

B. TRADESMEN RECRUITS : In addition to the general requirements, an Applicant who applies to this category must satisfy the requirements stated under the specific sub-category:

 

i. MARINE – SEAMEN : In addition to the general requirements, an Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 ; must be an expert swimmer and must possess a minimum of five credits (A1 – C6 at WASSCE) including English Language and a pass in Mathematics (D7 and E8 at WASSCE).

 

ii. MARINE TECHNICIANS (ELECTRICAL/MECHANICAL) : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must mot be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following certificates or its equivalence:
a. GES (COTVET) Cert II in Mechanical Engineering Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice;
c. GES Mechanical Engineering technician Part II & III;
d. GES Advanced Craft in Mechanical Engineering Practice;
e. GES Electrical Engineering Technician Part II & III (heavy Power Option);
f. GES Advanced Craft in Electrical Installation Work.

 

iii ELECTRONICS/AUTO ELECTRICIANS / ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess a minimum of any of the following:
a. COTVET Certificate II;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate;
c. City & Guilds Certificate in Electronics, Auto Electrician and Electrical Engineering.

 

iv. ELECTRICIANS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:
a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Electrical Engineering Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation Work;
c. City & Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering.

 

v. CATERERS/HOSPITALITY : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:
a. HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management and Must have completed mandatory National Service;
b. HND in Hospitality Management and must have completed mandatory National Service;
c. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management;
d. GES intermediate Certificate in Food and Beverage Service.

 

vi. METAL SMITH AND WEAPON FITTERS:In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Mechanical Engineering Technology
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding Craft Practice;
c. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Welding and fabrication Technology;
d. City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical and Gas Welding.

 

vii. MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS AND DRIVERS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following in addition to professional Driving License Class D (minimum) which should not be less than two (2) years old:
a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Automobile Engineering;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Vehicle Mechanic;
c. City & Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering;
d. City & Guilds in Intermediate (Internal Combustion Engines and Motor Vehicle)

 

viii PAINTING AND WRITING : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Creative Arts Design;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Painting and Decorating Craft;
c. NVTI Certificate II in Painting and Decoration

 

ix. RADIO TECHNICIANS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:
e. City and Guilds Certificate in Electronics;
f. City and Guilds Certificate in Telecommunication.

 

x. RECORD AND ARCHIVE KEEPER: In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following in addition to at least one year working experience:
a. Diploma in Archival Studies;
b. Diploma in Records Management from an accredited Institution of Higher Learning.

 

xi. REFRIGERATION & AIR-CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology;
b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration Mechanics;
c. City & Guilds Certificate in Refrigeration Technology.

 

xii. SURVEYORS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must possess any of the following:

a. GSSM Certificate in Survey and Mapping;
b. GSSM HND Certificate in Survey and Mapping.

 

xiii. BANDSMEN : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with the ability to Sight-Read, to play Woodwind, Brass wind and Percussion Instruments and the ability to play four (4) or more scales on one’s chosen instrument. Possession of ABRSM Grade 4 and above is an added advantage.

 

xiv. DENTAL TECHNOLOGY : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with a Diploma in Dental Technology Option and at least one year working experience.

 

xvi. RADIOLOGIST TECHNOLOGIST (X-RAY) : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with a Diploma in Radiology Technology and at least one year working experience.

 

xvii. PHARMACY TECHNICIAN : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with HND in Dispensing Technology and at least one year working experience.

 

xviii. PHYSIOTHERAPIST ASSISTANTS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with Certificate in Physiotherapy and at least one year working experience.

 

xix. MEDICAL LABORATORY ASSISTANTS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology plus two (2) years qualification internship.

 

xx. PROSECTOR : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have SSSCE/WASSCE minimum of six credits (A1 to C6 at WASSCE) together with relevant training and at least one year working experience.

 

xxi. NURSING SERVICES : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must possess at least a Diploma in the relevant area of Nursing listed below;
a. ENT Nurse b. Intensive Care Nurses
c. Ophthalmic Nurses
d. Orthopaedic Nurses
e. Psychiatric Nurses
f. Public Health Nurses
g. Registered General Nurses
h. Theatre Nurses (Peri-operative)
i. Midwives
j. Nurse Anesthetists

 

C. GRADUATES (GENERAL DUTY): – In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 27 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) in any field of study from a recognized University accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board and must have completed National Service.

D. GRADUATE PROFESSIONALS : In addition to the general requirements, an Applicant who applies to this category must satisfy the requirements stated under the specific sub-category:
i. PROJECT OFFICERS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 30 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (at least a Second Class Lower Division) from an accredited University in any of the listed qualification in addition to at least two (2) years post working experience :
a. BSc Electrical Engineering;
b. BSc Civil Engineering;
c. BSc Architecture;
d. BSc Building Technology (Management Option).

ii. TRANSPORT AND WORKSHOP OFFICERS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 30 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) in BSc Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University in addition to at least two (2) years post working experience.

iii. ESTATE OFFICERS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 30 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from an accredited University in any of the listed qualification in addition to at least two (2) years post working experience;
a. Bsc Land Economy;
b. Bsc Geomatics / Geodetic Engineering (Land Surveyor).

 

iv. COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS OFFICERS : In addition to the general requirements, Applicant must not be more than 30 years by 1st January, 2018 and must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from an accredited University in any of the listed qualification in addition to at least two (2) years post working experience;
a. BA Communication Studies;
b. BA Journalism;
c. BA Public Relations;
d. BA English Language; OR
e. BA Photography.
