E-JUST Scholarship Opportunities for African students
A delegation from Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) has made a presentation to Management of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) on scholarship opportunities for African students.
The delegation led by Prof. Sameh Nada included Prof. Mona Gamal El-Din, Rava Tamek, Ms. Miyake Chicho and Ms. Midori Ozawa.
Purpose of Visit
The delegation briefed Management about the availability of scholarships at the Masters level in the Sciences that UCC students could apply and enrol on. The programmes for the scholarships are Electronics and Communications Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Energy Resources Engineering, Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering and Material Science Engineering.
Others are Nanoscience, Energy Materials, Bio-Technology, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Heritage Science Programme and Conservation Science Track.
E-JUST is a research university with an ambition to cultivate an academic environment and become a benchmark in education for the Egyptian and African countries. It was first established as a bilateral agreement project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments in May 2009 and later in 2010 accepted its first batch of students.
Scholarship Package
According to Prof. El-Din, the scholarship covered tuition fees, accommodation, monthly stipend, medical and life insurance as well as flight ticket. She said the application period was from January 15-to February 15, 2020, and applicants would have to visit https://ejust.edu.eg/international-admission-general-admission/ to register.
Giving the background to E-JUST, Prof. El-Din explained that the institution was a research university that provided its students access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, as well as, the latest technologies. “Due to the resources and opportunities, E-JUST attracts distinguished faculty in its various fields, which gives students the opportunity to work side by side with high profile researchers on laboratory projects,” she noted.
Collaboration
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ghartey Ampiah, commended E-JUST for its admission approach to get quality students. He said UCC would make the information available to students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences and the College of Health and Allied Sciences to apply.
Prof. Ampiah noted that beyond the scholarship package, UCC would appreciate the collaboration between the two institutions to share best practices and resources together. “We need to look at our common interest and join forces to strengthen and make our institutions more visible” he noted. He urged E-JUST to consider including some programmes in the humanities for the scholarship package.
Prof. Ampiah said UCC would initiate steps to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with E-JUST to realise these objectives. He thanked the delegation for considering UCC students for the scholarship.
