BECE Grading:
Presently BECE certificate/result is based on a grading system. Therefore, grades are calculated based on performance in the external examination (in addition to objective and written) and Continuous (Internal) Assessment score provided by the schools.
A nine-point scale helps to determine the present grading system. Candidates with Grade 1 denoting the highest performance whereas Grade 9 is the lowest.

Generally, candidates selection to Senior High Schools is done by the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS)-The Computerized School Selection and Placement System – a computerized system used by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to place qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates fairly into Senior High School, Technical Institutes, and the Vocational Institution Institute.
