Brunsfield Oxford ASEAN Human Rights Scholarships at University of Oxford in UK, 2017

Brunsfield Foundation is offering fully funded scholarships for candidates from ASEAN countries to study for the master’s in international Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford. The Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full plus accommodation during the two compulsory summer residences and a generous maintenance grant of approximately £3200 per annum. The application deadline is 20 January 2017.

Eligibility: Candidates should be applying to start the Master’s in International Human Rights Law in September 2016 and must meet the selection criteria for the course (please see the Admissions pages) as well as the criteria for the BOAHR Scholarships. These are as follows:
-Candidates must be nationals of, and ordinarily resident in, one of the countries listed in Section 8 of these notes, and should intend to return to that country upon completion of their studies.
-Candidates must show exceptional academic merit and/or potential. Indicators of exceptional academic merit would be a high first-class honours degree or its equivalent (a GPA score of at least 3.7 if the mark is out of 4) or an outstanding academic record at Master’s level (noting that an outstanding Master’s degree cancompensate for a more moderate first degree performance). Other indicators of high academic achievement may include individual marks on student transcripts; evidence of previous university prizes or awards; information on your overall position within your cohort; and publications (if applicable).
Please note that the Scholarships are not open to students who are already on course or to students with deferred entry from a previous year.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Scholarship is open for citizens of ASEAN member countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

Scholarship Description: The BOAHR Scholarships are fully funded scholarships for candidates from ASEAN countries to study for the Master’s in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford, a parttime degree taught over 22 months and consisting of two residential sessions in Oxford and two periods of distance learning. Three scholarships will be available for the course starting in September 2016. The Scholarships are generously funded by the Brunsfield Foundation in Kuala Lumpur and are aimed at human rights advocates from ASEAN member states (see Section 8 below) who can demonstrate exceptional academic merit and/or potential

Number of award(s): Three scholarships will be available for the course starting in September 2017.

Duration of award(s): The Scholarships are offered for the full period that you are liable to pay tuition fees to the University. For the Master’s in International Human Rights Law, this is two years.

What does it cover? The Scholarships cover tuition and college fees in full plus accommodation during the two compulsory summer residences and a generous maintenance grant of approximately £3200 per annum. The maintenance grant is intended to assist with travel, insurance and living costs associated with the compulsory summer residences.

Notification: Assessment of eligible applications will take place in February/March 2017 and successful recipients of a BOAHR Scholarship will be notified of the result by 31 March 2017.

How to Apply: Candidates should submit an application for the Master’s in International Human Rights Law by the 22 January 2016 application deadline. By doing this, you will automatically be considered for a BOAHR Scholarship if you are offered a place on the course and you meet the eligibility requirements. You will also be considered for any other scholarships for which you are eligible. You do not need to submit any additional documents specifically for the BOAHR Scholarship and there is no separate scholarship application form.
