Decisions regarding admission are made by the admitting departments, however, all offers of admission are subject to verification by Graduate Admissions, office of the Ensign College of Public Health Registrar.

  • You meet the specified eligibility requirements (First-degree holders with a minimum of Second Class Division and good quantitative skills)
  • You demonstrate your eligibility within the specified deadline
  • You submit the application and the required attachments within the specified deadline
  • You take part in the interview, if you are invited to an interview.

Applications received after the closing date will be considered for the subsequent year or intake. The application deadline for the entry is 30th June 6:00 pm (Ghana Time).

The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program at the University of Utah, including the Extended MPH Program in Ghana, is appropriate for the student who plans a career as a practice-focused professional in public health. The 45-credit hour professional degree is a two year program, but can be completed in a one year accelerated program in Ghana. Students who undertake their training on a part-time basis because of work or other commitments may require more time.

The University of Utah is honored and excited to receive Accreditation from the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana to start its Extended Master of Public Health (MPH) Program in Ghana at Ensign College of Public Health located at Kpong, eastern Region, Ghana. Students from around the world will have convenient access to the University of Utah’s amazing faculty, staff, and academic culture at the Ensign College of Public Health Campus. All courses are taught in English by University of Utah faculty, allowing students to have the same quality of education in Ghana as in the other University of Utah MPH Program locations while earning their Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accredited MPH degree. The CEPH accreditation provides immediate recognition from the academic public health community around the world.

The MPH program at the University of Utah provides coursework in biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, health policy and administration, and social and behavioral science. It also covers cross-cutting and emerging public health areas such as health care systems, planning and management to promote health, leadership, communication, interprofessional practice, and systems thinking, and a host of electives. Public health includes professionals from many fields who share the common purpose of keeping communities healthy.

Flexibility

  • Students have the option to complete the MPH degree at the Ensign College of Public Health campus or flex betweenThe University of Utah Asia (Songdo, South Korea), US (Salt Lake City, Utah), and West Africa (Kpong, Eastern Region, Ghana) locations.
  • Students at the Extended MPH Program in Ghana have the option to enroll in an accelerated program of study to complete this 2-year degree in one year. Students have flexibility to determine the pace at which they would like to complete their degree. Part-time students can take up to four years to complete their degree.
