AIUC Faculty Of Information And Communication Entry Requirements

Entry Routes
Africa International University College has five entry routes:

  1. Entry by means of the WASSSCE / SSSCE (Entry at level 100).
  2. Entry by means of the G.C.E. “O” and “A” level (Entry at Level 100).
  3. Entry by means  of Mature students Examination (Entry at Level 100)
  4. Entry by means of professional certificates and tertiary level diplomas (entry at Level 200 and 300) depending on the assessment of the diploma or certificate.
  5. Entry with ICM Diploma Certificates

The general admission requirements for the various entry routes are as follows:

Post-Senior Secondary  School Candidates

Candidates must have credit passes in six (6) subjects with an overall aggregate of 24 or better.  Three of the six subjects must be Core subjects including English Language and Mathematics and either integrated Science or Social Studies), and three must be in electives relevant to the candidate’s proposed programme of study. In addition, candidate must satisfy the specific requirements of the relevant Faculty.

General certificate of education (G.C.E.) candidates

Candidates must have credit passes at G.C.E. “O” Level in five (5) subjects including English Language and Mathematics. In addition, candidate must have three (3) passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level of which two (2) must be at grades not lower than ‘D’.  Faculties may have specific requirements in addition to the general requirements.            
Note: The ‘A’ Level. General Paper is no longer a requirement.

Admission through Mature Students Examination is available in the faculties of Administration, Communication/Journalism only.  

The general requirements are as follows:

  1. The candidate must be at least 25years old (at the time of entrance examination).
  2. A photocopy of original birth certificate is required.
  • The candidate must have G.C.E. ‘O’ Level or SSSCE credit passes in     English Language and Core Mathematics. Candidates who do not have the required ‘O’ Level or SSCE passes will be required to take special Entrance Examination papers in the two subjects.
  • Candidates must take the Mature Students Examination which consists of a General Paper for all candidates and two papers in the area(s) o specialization desired. In addition, candidates who pass all papers in the Mature Examinations will be ranked and those who fall within the approved quota will be invited for interview.

Professional and Post-Diploma Candidates

The Level placement of professional certificate and Tertiary Diploma holders will depend on the assessment of their certificates or diplomas in relation to the programme desired.
The general guidelines are as follows:

  1. All professional and Post Diploma candidates must have G.C.E. ‘O’ Level passes or SSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics (Core for SSCE).
  2. Holders of AIUC and affiliated institutions diplomas:  A minimum of Second Class Lower/Upper is required for admission to Level 300; holders of all lower classes are advised to go through the Mature Students Examination.
  3. Holders of Diplomas awarded by other universities:   The relevant faculties and departments will assess the curriculum content of the diploma in relation to the programme on case-by-case basis.
  4. HND candidates:   The Level placement of candidates will depend on the match between the content of the diploma and the AIUC programme.  Where there is a good match, a minimum of Second Class Upper is required for admission to Level 300.
  5. Professional certificates:  The placement level of candidates will depend on an assessment. Of the certificate by the relevant department or faculty.

Specific Faculty Admission Requirements

In addition to the general admission requirements, faculties and departments may have specific requirements.

Delivery Modes

The College’s programmes are designed for producing junior and middle level management through organizations to effectively meet the professional creativity and administrative challenges of World class Tertiary Education that will give African students the opportunity of earning world class international degrees. The College provides campus-based learning and Part-Time learning modes.   The Part-Time learning mode is a new strategic thrust embarked upon to expand access to undergraduate.
