APPLICATIONS are invited from suitably qualified PERSONS for appointment as Project Manager of the Center for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chain-Africa (CARISCA).

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Minimum qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration, Development Studies or related field and three years of experience in training or event management OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved:

Specifically:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight to ten years’ administrative/coordination project experience, including at least five years of supervisory experience; OR, Master’s degree with four to five years’ administrative/coordination project experience including at least three years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve to fifteen years of progressively responsible administrative/coordination project experience, including at least five years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Proficiency in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications
  • Proficiency in creating, formatting, editing of documents and templates, data analysis using excel/google sheets formulas
  • Experience in training others (one-on-one and in groups)
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Comfortable with technology/learning new programs/software

Additional/Desired qualifications:

  • Understanding of Higher Education Institutions
  • International development experience (USAID experience a plus)
  • Google Workspace experience
  • Experience in analyzing data, creating descriptive statistics, comparing pre- and post-test evaluation scores, and creating data visualizations.
  • Experience in mixed-method research design
  • Event planning or executive support experience a plus

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Director of Operations in all administration functions and processes;
  • Facilitate development of project plans and manage them from inception to completion;
  • Monitor all moving parts of the project keeping them synchronized;
  • Prepare, organize, and distribute all necessary project materials;
  • Organize and implement formulated policies and procedures, and attend all project meetings and take notes;
  • Maintain and update budgets as project progresses in consultation with the Director of Operations and Centre Accountant;
  • Calculate relevant project metrics as directed by the Director of Operations;
  • Communicate pertinent information between Centre leadership and staff;
  • Create project plans, creating a timeline and setting benchmarks, advise staff on adherence to set budgets and project schedules in consultation with the Director of Operations;
  • Ensure the development and implementation of administrative and human resource management policies, systems and manuals for the Centre in consultation with the Director of Operations;
  • Supervise and delegate administrative tasks to project administrative assistants;
  • Work with the Director of Operations to develop mechanisms for succession planning and smooth exit of staff from the Centre;
  • Collaborate on project presentations, analyse project data and produce progress reports;
  • provide information and communication technology support to personnel of the Centre;
  • undertake other roles and responsibilities as and when necessary.
