ADMISSION OF APPLICANTS TO BACHELOR OF LAWS (LL.B) DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR

Applications are invited from qualified applicants for admission to the BACHELOR OF LAWS (LL.B) Degree programme for the Academic
Year.

The University offers the LL.B Degree programme in two cohorts:
Four (4)-Year LL.B Degree Programme for Non- First Degree Holders
Three (3)-Year LL.B Degree Programme for First Degree Holders

FOUR (4)-YEAR LL.B DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR NON-FIRST DEGREE HOLDERS (FULL-TIME DAY)

Qualifications acceptable for admissions to the Four

(4)-Year LL.B Degree Programme

Ÿ West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

Ÿ Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Ÿ General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

Ÿ American High School Grade 12 with at least Final Grade Point of 3.0.

Ÿ WAEC General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

Ÿ Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (ABCE)

Ÿ Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’/Diploma in Education Certificate

Ÿ Higher National Diploma (HND) awarded by NABPTEX

Ÿ University Diploma

Ÿ General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)/ Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level

NB: Current final year SHS students are encouraged to apply as

WASSCE awaiting results.

Special Notice for WASSCE Applicants Awaiting their WASSCE Results

All Applicants for the Four (4)-Year LLB Programme who will be writing their WASSCE in May/June are also eligible to write the Entrance Examination. However, any such applicant who passes the Entrance Examination will not be invited for the interview unless he/she has successfully passed the WASSCE.

THREE (3)-YEAR LL.B PROGRAMME

THREE (3)-YEAR LL.B PROGRAMME FOR FIRST DEGREE HOLDERS (FULL-TIME EVENING)

Qualifications acceptable for admissions to the

Three (3)-Year LL.B Degree Programme

ŸBachelor’s degree with at least a Third Class.

ŸRecognized Chartered Professional Qualifications as recognised by NAB.

Applicants must, in addition, have WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE credit passes of at least grade C6 or D respectively in three (3) core subjects and three (3) elective subjects or credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any Science subject at the GCE ‘O’ Level in addition to three ‘A’ Level passes plus a pass in General Paper.

Applicants are to note that lectures are held from Monday to Friday (Evenings) and Saturday (morning).

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION AND SELECTION INTERVIEW

ŸApplicants to both the Four (4)-Year LL.B Degree programme and Three (3)-Year LL.B Degree programme must in addition to meeting the entry requirements, as specified on the University’s website, pass an entrance examination and selection interview.

Ÿ Entrance Examination: 25th April

Ÿ Selection Interview: 18th to 22nd May

Ÿ Admission Notification: 8th June

(ii) Date of Entrance Examination and Selection Interview for 4-Year LL.B Degree Applicants including WASSCE holders and WASSCE Awaiting results

Ÿ Deadline for Application and Submission: 15th June

Ÿ Entrance Examination: 4th July

Ÿ Interview for WASSCE Holders: 27th to 31st July

Ÿ Notification of Admission: 10th August

Interview for WASSCE Awaiting Results Applicants- Upon Release of WASSCE Results by WAEC.

HOW TO APPLY

ŸPurchase of Online Serial Numbers (OSN)

Online Serial Numbers (OSN) for UPSA are available for purchase at the cost of GH¢200.00 for Ghanaian Applicants and US$120.00 for International Applicants at the following sales points:

(a) Any Ecobank or Access Bank branch nation-wide

(b) Any Ghana Post (Post Office) branch nation-wide

(c) By Visa/Master Card/Mobile Money using the link http://interpayafrica.com/custom/upsa

Ÿ Completion of Online Application Form

All applications must be strictly completed on-line i.e.

(I) Log on to admissions.upsa.edu.gh to access the on-line application form.

(ii)Use the Online Serial Numbers (OSN) and the receipt number to start the application process.

Ÿ Attachment of Supporting Documents

All 3-Year LL.B Degree Applicants are expected to scan and attach the following documents to their online application forms. All such documents to be attached must be scanned into PDF format.

Ÿ A printed-out and endorsed applicant’s declaration slip

Ÿ Certified copies of all certificate(s)

Ÿ Certified copies of original transcript(s) of academic records

Ÿ Birth certificate

WASSCE Applicants need not attach any supporting documents.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Applicants who do not meet any of the requirements above MUST NOT APPLY. Fees paid to the University are NOT refundable.
