SHORT COURSE IN PROJECT PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT

This is a Two-week (2) intensive course (from Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 4.30pm) designed as a refresher programme for planning practitioners and an introductory course for participants who are new in the field.

  • Ex-ante Logical Framework
  • Ex-post Logical Framework
  • SWOT and stakeholder analysis
  • Classification and Ranking of Projects in Planning using Principal Component analysis
  • Environmental and Social safeguards, and sustainability of projects.

Project Appraisal

  • Principles of project appraisal
  • Techniques and criteria
  • Financial and economic analysis of projects
  • Analysis of the social, distributive and environmental impacts of projects
  • Analysis of relative merits of decision criteria and sensitivity analysis in project appraisal
  • Cost effectiveness analysis

Introduction to System Dynamics, Feedback and dynamic relationships in Project Planning

  • Implementation of Projects
  • Project action plan
  • Scheduling of project activities using the critical path method (CPM)

Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects

  • Results –based monitoring and evaluation
  • Key distinction between monitoring and evaluation
  • Participatory monitoring and evaluation
  • Policy analysis matrix for project monitoring
  • Casual pathway analysis for project monitoring
  • Evaluation criteria analysis
  • Evaluation as a means of project policy and process analysis
  • Feedback and Project Completion
  • Introduction to software for project process management

Computer-based Practical Exercises in Project Process Management.
Practical Training Workshop and Field Work
Participants will undertake a field trip to a reputable project planning site, apply the skills and techniques learnt during the course and prepare reports for presentation at a training workshop. In addition, team work, interactive and practical exercises will be undertaken during the training course

The course will be extremely useful for project planning officers, development planning consultants, planning officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, District Assemblies, NGOs, Social service groups, churches, banks, researchers, students, private entrepreneurs, professional planners, universities etc.
COURSE FEE:   GH¢1,500.00 (including course documentation, snacks and lunch, field trip, etc)
